missing money - found

Last year on a complete fluke, I did a search on this site and low and behold, a trucking company I used to work for
owed me money ($547.00) to be exact, all I had to do was prove who I was and the state send me the funds, but actually I personalty went to columbus and picked it up.

I check every now and then, because yah never know
Plus its 100% free.
Its super fun to check you family or anyone, all you need is a name to check.
But you cant actually claim their funds, but yah maybe if someone you know has money coming they will hook you up for hooking them up, or perhaps you can form your own in between site and charge people to locate missing money.

Only US? that is a disappointment.

The reason its USA based is because of our laws.

If you leave a job and for some stupid reason, you forget to go back and pick up your last check and they can not locate you to sent it to you, (you move or they just have the wrong addy) which was my case.

The company then has to turn it over to your home state, and it just sits there until it is claimed.
Said company can pull a fast one and not turn over the funds, however, at tax time, they will have a hard time covering their tracks in where that money went, and if audited, they are had.
Mind you though, there are ways a company can keep your money and get away with it, but most of them rather just turn it over to the state, then risk breaking federal laws over a few hundred bucks.

This also relates to all funds owed, such as utility bill deposits, cell phone deposits, refunded over payments, wills, nearly anything owned to you that has a paper trail will end up listed on that site.
That is what the woman told me.
They will never try to locate you, nor can they collect interest on said moneys, it just its there rotting away, waiting for someone to claim it.
My cuz is owed money from some insurance thing, but I will never tell him, he is a complete ass and used me and our whole family his whole life and never paid anyone back, karma is a bitch.

If your country does have similar laws, then perhaps there is either a website for this or someone to call, I would check into it, if you really want to that is.

For those in USA though, this is a huge deal.....

Yes, I got $300 back from FootLocker this way. I live in Florida and I actually got a letter from the Bureau of Unclaimed Property. After I claimed my $300 check, I got another letter from a business man who offered to get my money for a 20% fee...

basically he would have to just check random names in the system and then contact said people.
Your physical address is right there on the website.

Begin searching your local areas phonebook listings against this website, and if you get any hits, contact them and go from there, it perfectly legal.
What the lady told me is they get said person to sign some power of attorney thing so they can collect the funds for them.
Or you can just sell them the info.

Haha no one reports for the lost money here in Pakistan. Its really terrific to sea that honest people still exist in this world. This is reallly something amazing. I just checked that 100's of people with my name have lost money. I would come to America soon. And get that all

Years ago I saw a late night infomercial selling some get rich quick thingy based on this. You basically searched these type of sites and found people that where owed money... contacted the people and offered to help them recover it for a percentage.

There are probably millions of dollars out there in unclaimed funds that people do not know is owed to them.

But there are better ways to find money owed than that site. I am actually owed a deposit refund from a local phone company. They turned it over to the unclaimed property department in my state because I did not claim it after a year. That site did not find it for me.

If you wanna see if you are owed any money.... Search in google: "unclaimed property in (your state, or any state you have lived in)".... Make sure you click on a .gov link and you can probably search from there.

Well this is only USA based site. And not every country can manage track record like that. Especially in the third world countries of Asia and Africa. This site may expand to some other European countries but that would take lots of time.

once you click through to the proper number to call, they will explain how to claim it and exactly how much is owed to you.

I have noticed that all states vary on where you are taken if you click your name from various states,
out of curiosity, I clicked on one from Co, that had my exact name and ended up at a voice mail service explaining that you must send them mail to request info on said claim, my state goes right to the treasury dept in ohio.

I tried your method and the only .gov site that showed up, basically took me right back to the original site I listed.
All the rest of the sites on the 5 pages were third party people who charge for this info.

I assume that all states handle this in their own fashion, I don't even think all states are listed in the site either.

Yep, they did.

And the letter I received is long gone but it said something like "he found my name somewhere" so I think he just somehow got it from my state. Or maybe he used Scrapebox.

I wonder what kind of license you need to operate a business like this..

probably none.
All you have to do is use a phone book, and manually search people until you get a hit.
I would then send them a personal snail mail, maybe even have it certified.
Explain exactly what you are doing too, just stretch the truth about fees a reg person would have to pay researching it themselves, and be honest that you're in it to make money plus help others receive their money.

You know its quite possible whoever sent you the mail, sold your info to that guy.
Its quite odd he also contacted you, perhaps he works for the state or has family that does.
He didnt just randomly search you out, but maybe so, who knows
