If you can access free electricity, take advantage of it because that makes a huge difference in the profitability of mining. You don't need to mine as much as other miners do in order to break even.
Research mining heavily and get a rig happening.

I guess they have a submeter per apartment.So they can see how much each apartment is consuming?
Not planning to do that, it was just an idea.
What a dream it would be to have the full rent paid this way
Back in 2018 when I started mining. My electricity provider paid me a visit just to see what's going on.

I'm the US, most apartment buildings charge a flat rate for electricity. They obviously don't like it when someone uses significantly over the average.
If you use your brain, then I don't see a problem here. Who said you need a huuuuuge rig? Try a 4-card rig or something like that, and if even that makes you paranoid, just don't mine 24/7. But, yeah, I would DEFINITELY use such an opportunity, 100%.

I used to spend between 900 and 1300 a month in my apartment on my mining rigs power and it broke even most months and kept the place nice and warm too.

yeah for sure, genius idea.
With the crazy prices we're seeing at the moment, you'd be looking at $1200...$1500 as a bare minimum (used).
