Mining in games

I have friends who play Axis and make good money out of it. Not 'lots' of money but enough to save a little (considering the local coin has inflaction is very useful).
Also other friend had back luck with a similar game, called Plants vs Zombies. At the beginning the game had 400% roi, then just simply didn't. I've seen other games but those ones are the most popular by far.
