probably a stupid idea but can I rent a motel and bring some mining equipment with me and steal their electricity and mine bitcoin? let's say I find a really crappy motel with bed bugs for $60 a night. I have a feeling I will end up mining like $1 in bitcoin per night so not worth it. what kind of equipment would I need to bring to break even?

you need 50 grapchick cards that dont make much noise

You can maybe try to mine something else. BTC is hard and you need a lot of hash power. I don't see how you can mine without ASICs :D

Not worth it. Sooner or later they will find out about it.

Bro if you're going to steal electricity there are better ways. But it's not worth the risk with any of them. You need 2 years of mining to get back your money on your equipment and risk is too high to get caught in the meantime, or even lose your ASICs.

Once they see the electricity cost peak, they will be on your butt. 2 months max.

Why do some of you mention about stealing electricity? This is not considered stealing.

If I rent a motel for whatever time, do I sign somewhere that says you gotta spend up to x Kw/h?

Exactly! :)

Search up 'Bitcoin halving' to find out why that's a terrible idea
Invest that amount into blue chip Alts instead

Not worth it anymore with the current price of BTC compared to the electricity costs, atleast not in my country.

lol dude wants to steal $60 of electricity mining btc lol
if you cant pay $60 a day mining, you shouldn't be minign man xd

$60 fuck!! You can find a room in vegas or jean/primm nevada for $5 on a deal. But I seriously doubt any of the circuits would hold out though. you would burn the place down.

Breakers won’t even hold that and trip. Most hotels wiring are really old and you might even start a fire.

btw they could catch fire if the ventilation/cooling is not good, be safe :)

What a nice crazy idea…
That’s a smart angle, but as others said it doesn’t worth it.
By this free of charge electricity point of view, you should consider eolian and photovoltaic ⚡️ Or even hydro station.
Also the location might help if you put them in a mountain or colder area.
Good luck!

Read something about BTC USB sticks don't know if they work but if they do that's solely what could work on such a budget and not consume noticeable electricity.

You will move the equipment and they will not notice ? For that take a magician with you.
