Minimalist Lifestyle

I think it really depends where you are coming from and the way you grew up.

For someone who grew up having nothing, materialistic stuff, real estate, cars etc. can be a huge motivation and a goal.
If you grew up in a rich family or in a decent area, where everyone is superficial, you are more likely to become minimalistic (if you wanna leave "your" society).

In the end everyone has to decide by themselves, what makes them happy, how to life their life etc. finding a balance is important. Of course you don't need a the most fancy car, even if you are millionaire. Maybe you don't need to fly first class or business class. What I find odd is when people are trying to "push" their opinions and lifestyle on someone else. For examples vegans.
The most authentic answer ❤️ I was always confused between chasing massive wealth, and living minimalist. But since I come from a very poor upbringing, I guess my quest for wealth is justified.

I'm trying to take more holidays this year to enjoy the money I make. Last month I went to Goa, which is a coastal area full of beautiful beaches. My friend booked a 7 start hotel along the beach. It was luxurious. But I had more fun mingling with the locals and dancing with the hippies in a psy trance open air party (what Goa is famous for) and all of this cost me not even 5% of what we paid for the Grand hotel.

I would like to enjoy a life where I have unlimited wealth in my bank, yet I choose to enjoy the things that don't cost money ❤️

Never, could never do it. I envy and at the same time pity the people who are doing it.
Yes, +1 this
As someone who live in a third world country, people will treat you like shit if you lived like that here.
Nothing is free here and most people can't even afford to eat right, live a real house (with clean water and electricity). Even the Internet is so expensive, that wi-fi is not so common. The basics are not even met here.
And I know what I'm saying because I came from a poor family which were forced to live in a minimalistic lifestyle not by choice.
So, I'd rather live in comfort even when I travel.
There are only 2 kind of people here : the poor and the rich. And you'll never want to be treated like the poor, NEVER.
But I get it, if I refer to what I see or learn about your 1st world culture where people are all so obsessed with money and luxury stuff. I undertand that you want to live differently from those people who only value money and posession.

I was extremely minimalistic 15 years ago, to the point of traveling without anything buy my passport, a bank card, and a toothbrush on my pocket, not even a backpack, I used to walk to the hitchhiking spot without anything at all, not even a watch or a destination, so I didn't have a plan of where I was going, I just went wherever the cars went, or go to a bus or train station and get on any bus anywhere just for the heck of it, but then life happened and I got a dog, so now I need to plan a bit more and can't be as flexible (or careless) as before.
I never knew that too lol it's just one of the things Buffet says which we all know about investing in things we do not need and then later on we may need to sell stuff that we need

I could never live like this. I grew up somewhat poor and have been living on my own since I was 18, my whole life I have gone without on and off. I'm finally in a secure position working 40 hours a week at a normal job.

So we should all go back to dial up?

oh no, I didn't mean that ... I mean to use internet and not wasting time in social media and watching videos/movies/series ... etc.
and instead of that time we can do sport, giving a value to friends/family, learn something ... etc
