[Mini-Method] How To Get Links from Wikipedia

Great method! haven't tried adding links to Wikipedia yet, just thought I would get slapped down due to having a brand new account. Going to give this a go, thanks!

thanks for the method. Added 2 lines of text with 2 references. Lets see if it sticks.

Wonderful hints, I just added a couple of references on one thing and two external links on another page. An hour later and we are still live :)

Thanks a lot, decent tip you got there.

So you're saying that the nofollow link you get actually provide a boost?

I have a view Wikipedia links to my local sites and i can confirm that this works, i don't know if it helps with ranking, (i have done no testing on that) but i do get a shitload of click traffic from 4/5 links i have planted deep in the reference section :)

seems like a good technique for the Wikipedia links, i will try it definitely, thanks for sharing.

Just thought I'd add my tidbit.

In case the page you want doesnt have a "citation needed" there for you to offer one, here is a simple fix. Just edit it yourself and write {{citation needed}}. According to Wikipedia anyone has the right to question for a citation on any unsourced sentence.

To ensure that all Wikipedia content is verifiable, anyone may question an un-cited claim by inserting a {{Citation needed}} tag.

So you just create the "citation needed". Then 5 minutes later using a different account you offer the citation which just happens to be a page on your website you created 10 minutes ago.

Thats how I do it when there is no "citation needed" there for me.

Thanks for the method. Will try and see if it works for me.

This method is great, I have added five links in a short time, and they are still alive after 24 hours, but there is still a problem, My account has been tracked by COIBotThis is an automated report generated by COIBot.If your username appears here, it means that COIBot has been tracking a link that you have added to one or more articles. COIBot tracks links for one of the following "blacklist and monitor" reasons, which can be found above the actual records (if they are not there, the link is not monitored/blacklisted anymore):I think if I want to add more links to my site, I have to add some links to other sites, this is similar with reddit, anyone has better idea?

What would be the point to struggle, if the links are nofollow - any other profit?

Thanks for the helpful tutorial.
I re-created a dead source and replaced the old (dead) reference on wikipedia. (deleted the old info about that reference and put mine)
Right after editing it, "cluebot" restored it, reason:"vandalism", automatically.

I used a 5 years old wikipedia account and my site looks legit.

What might be the problem? It looks like I did something wrong in the process.. as it was rejected automatically!

(deleted the old info about that reference and put mine)
<--The problem
Don't mess with the existing references and add your content/links. You can't just pop in there and add your link, you need to add to the page.

Okay, I got 2 links from wikipedia 10 days ago. There were other edits after mine but my links are still there.
How long will it take for links to result in GWT, ahrefs or elsewhere?

I see the articles on wiki got cached by google including my links, but still no backlinks result.

thanks!

Made one of these earlier and got it to stick for a good 24 hours so far ...

Even though Wikipedia is nofollow, it's still high authority in nature, and A LOT of the inner pages are PR4-7. Has anybody seen any increased DA/PA/Trustrank to the domains they're linking to from using these over an extended period of time?

...and now wikipedia is flooded with nonsense references in broken English, undoubtedly leading to an increase in suspicion site-wide. Super.

The other reason to get a wikipedia link is because a large number of other sites steal/scrape wikipedia content and copy it verbatim on their own sites. This means you get a link on their site as well
