Mindset question

I would say that most people use the two words interchangeably. I wouldn't say you are wrong, though. On both accounts. He's not selling a mentorship. He's selling a coaching program that he tries to pass off as a mentorship because the "income potential is life-changing." Yeah, except after the students make a couple of bucks, he will never be heard from again.

Mentor = Lifetime teacher

I have owned a training company and a publishing business. And i can categoricallly tell you there are no gurus who make good money in the kindle space through selling books on kindle. By which i mean $100,000 + per month.

Once you create a hit series on kindle and make that work it is a lot easier to scale that than it is to set up a training course and try and teach people how to do it.

The process isnt complicated and the money is so huge you would never bother going to all the trouble of pivoting to becoming a guru, you just keep publishing. For example kindle pay $10,000 bonus each month just for selling your books with them if your any good at it. Other publishers come along and offer you licensing opportunities.

Stay well away and if you want the system just let me know i will give it you. But implementing it requires some skill and investment.

People who buy online courses are simply stupid. When the information the courses sell is easily acquired with some googling.

I'm a bit confused - first you say that no successful Kindle publisher bothers spending time teaching people because it's easier to scale their publishing business, but then you offer exactly that - to teach me the system. Doesn't that contradict what you just said?

theres too much fuzz and you can't just leave it to one guy to change you're life there are too many processes and variables involved.

unless youre working under the wings to proteges you can only be as good as what you put out. if youre willing to sweat youre but off, learning everything its difficult to change,

even these guys that sell blue prints, and you need to build a good team around you, thats something else to learn.

not speaking for him but sure he said he will give you the system not teach it

If your interested i will just tell you it is about half a page list of things to do. I am not going to charge for it or create an entire business out of it, it will take me about 5 minutes. These guys will be spending a fortune both on marketing and in time trying to sell you a system. My point is anyone who is making good money wouldnt spend serious time or money on doing anything other than publishing books.

Infact i might have already posted it on bhw somewhere.

I don't entirely agree with this. I agree that it's a lot more complicated than one guy changing your life. But at the same time, sometimes having that one person show you the ropes, if you're willing to put in the work, can make a world of difference. But yes, the general idea I agree with.

Oh gotcha. At first it sounded like you were saying - don't believe that guy, but believe me *wink wink nudge nudge* Now I understand what you mean.

If you want to share, by all means. I wouldn't mind comparing what I found to what you have in mind. I don't know if you saw before, I mentioned that I found what looks to be an older version of his current "coaching system." I'd be curious to see how yours differs.

@GringoMonkey,
If it's OK, give me the system and I will work on it...

Thanks in advance.

I had already posted it in another thread.

Sounds basically like what I found only he went into more specifics.

Find a profitable niche (and he gives examples of them)
Go to Amazon and read reviews of books in that niche
Improve upon what people complained about and model after what they liked
Go to odesk (I guess now upwork, right?) and use this script to hire a freelancer
Go to Fiverr and get a cover
Publish to Kindle, run a free promotion and submit to (these websites) to get reviews.
Rinse, repeat, once you have a series of books, cross promote within the books, make the main book free, charge for the others, sell an omnibus/compilation version.

That was basically the whole system and a lot like what you posted.

I should hope he went into more detail he wants to charge you $10,000 for telling you it!

Thats my point it is not a difficult system and if you know how to continually make money with it you just keep doing it.

" I'm not ready. That I don't have the right mindset. Then they went on about how if your child is sick, you beg, borrow, or steal to get the money to pay for the hospital. You don't worry about the how."......Personally, that would have been my out. that's and age old sell line. Hes either got a ponzi going, or once you sign up, if you don't do well hell do whatever he can to make it look your just performing poorly and it is your fault. Honestly with the wealth of help here i wouldn't even see why you would need it. Take everyone else's advice and don't do it. The entire situation sounds like one of those "make 10000 a month on CB using our method". If someones method is really solid and not saturated, the chance of them teaching you how to do it is slim to none. Granted its hard to argue a good rep on a known forum, but rep can be purchased as well if you know the right people. The only way in the world you should go forward, is if your prepared to never see a dime from this in a worst case scenario, if you already have a solid method going, fund that operation and make it grow instead of a gamble.

I couldn't tell you for sure because I didn't even bother applying to the program. I'm guessing at the $10,000 figure. I have no idea what he's actually charging because he wouldn't tell me unless I applied. When I asked him, he gave me that BS I said above about not having the right mindset.

I'm glad my instincts were correct on that, then. It sounded like bad IM guru marketing nonsense. Quick story - there is a seller on Flippa that makes iPhone games. She sells them for about $2500/piece but makes no illusion about the fact that what you're buying is a cheap reskin and her chartboost system. I asked her how her system works and how much additional investment would be needed and she told me flat out that it would probably take me about 6 to 8 months before I see any return and I'd have to continually market to the tune of $200-$300/month to even get to that point. She was totally honest and upfront about it. I respect that a hell of a lot more than "well you must not be drowning enough to reach out for my hand" that I got from this Kindle expert.

Yeah man, transparency is key. Of all the big shots we have here on this forum, one thing they all have in common is transparency. One of the biggest scams in the world is selling hope and dreams, because it's so successful on honest people looking to just find a way in.

That is the absolute truth right there. Look, BHW may be home to some unscrupulous methods of making money, but at the same time, we are honest about it. At least that's always been my experience here.

I've followed this mantra very often, and it hasn't failed me, well, more often than not:)
It is:

~If it sounds too good to be true, then be very cautious. If you're not cautious and make a wrong decision, then remember this: The fool and his money are always parted. If you lose, then remember this: Don't blame anyone else for the reaction.

~Btw, did you take any loan to invest in it, then remember this: You must pay it, don't take another foolish decision and run away from paying the one who helped a loser... You. Don't make him a loser too. Karma bites surely, twice if needed.

Take chances by all means, but be very very cautious. Your hard earned money, or someone else's is at risk.

Nothing personal. I've followed it, and it's always good to remember.

I think they are good words to live by. It sounded too good to be true to me, so I asked him about it and basically got the runaround. That pretty much clinched it for me, but I wanted to ask here for opinions on if I made the wrong decision by not taking the offer.

For what it's worth, he's also got some sort of scarcity thing going on (only accepting 5 people. Only 2 slots left) That tactic never worked on me. It's like Black Friday sales. You can find just as good if not better all year round.

You've been cautious and have taken the right decision, imo, of asking for opinions here.

I would still ask the "seller" to give more information while also telling him that "you're willing to buy 'at any cost', but need more information, and few chapters to read first". That hook will either let him give you more free information, or it will allow you to let him GTH.

Get as much info from him. Then you've ways to get more knowledge, free, using Google search, and of course by discussing with friends in the field about how to go about it.

Be in touch with the seller, and get the knowledge. If you're interested in it, and by getting him to talk, you'll have a good skeleton to build it further, and then you can create a good method for yourself, free of cost too.

You don't lose anything by doing so, and you might get on to a new method that can become profitable for you. Get the ideas, as much as possible, and work on it. Patience and keeping the communication line open (while being extra cautious) is the key, especially when playing with a possible online scammer, who could have a method you can use free for yourself.

P.S.:
The "scarcity" hook is a part of the old game! He will take as many fish he can get a hand on. It's also a sign that the marketer is trying to sell a semi-, full-dud method, and then go on a long vacation...

Either he gives you more information, or else...lol

Honestly, I don't think it's worth asking him anymore. We went back and forth a couple of emails and basically his answer was that the course would be more than $3500 (which is the amount he "guarantees" he will stay with you to make) and that it's in non-fiction publishing. From the emails, it sounds like it's the same course he has been peddling since 2014. Googling found me a 71 page Word doc that looks like it's the full course. Totally not worth thousands of dollars.
