When it comes to gov/edu/mil backlinks there is a bit of hypothesis that these carry extra value. I find this to be speculation in that the domain extension itself IMO is not what carries the value. The value lies in the fact that many gov/edu/mil sites are high PR and have a degree of difficulty to get links from. So yes if you manage to get a link on a high pr and legit site that the link will likely find you successfully moving up the ranks. On the other had I am not sure if aedu link that is obviously a spam site, that has 1000 spammy comments offers any benefit over a regular net, com or info domain with the same characteristics.
