Migration of a Weebly website to Wordpress. Pros and Cons

Hello BHW members,

I wanted ask if someone with experience can help answer a few questions regarding migration of a website.

I have a website that I created on weebly, I wish to move it over to wordpress.

What are the risks of doing this?

Will it damage the rankings of my site?

I’m assuming the Backlinks will still be in place as that’s pointed to the URL and not to weebly. But I will be using my own hosting instead of weebly’s?

Is there anything I’m missing, or is this something that’s done easily without much risk if you know what you’re doing?

I would really appreciate it if I had some solid input.

Thought I should post a response I got from somewhere else.

The gentleman said

"make sure your URL structure, metadata & titles are copied over and you should be good to go"

It sounds about right to me but if you're attempting it, best to do a bit more digging.

If anyone has any experience in site migration, your input would be greatly appreciated.
