Migrating in Hungary...any thought?

Hello everyone,

I am planning to migrate to Hungary currently. We all know in many countries in Europe is offering self-employed visa now. I am not talking about natural beauty or any eye-catching things.

All I want to know is Hungary is a good choice? I learned so far from Google that it's a low-tax-paying country with a high literacy rate and low crime rate. Is the tax is meager there for self-employed people, or is there any loophole?

Is there any other drawback for the foreigner? Language can definitely be an issue, but for the long-term situation, what else I need to consider?

If anyone has any thoughts or ideas, please share. It would be beneficial.

Hungary is actually a good one, good people, safe place...

You won't have any problems, unless, unfortunately, you are coming from some countries where war is going on.

People like people, you have good and bad all over the place it doesn't matter if you from the US or Somalia.

People in Hungary are just sad and angry, like many Europeans how those who should fix the immigration problem are doing some fishy crap.

Long story, but this ^^ is right now problem #1, other than that, you'll be fine.

As for taxes. Well, I wouldn't say it's low. I don't know how it works for non-citizens, but if you want to earn more than 40k usd a year you'll have some massive taxes. Under that, you can pay a flat fee of ~$167 and you are allowed to earn up to $3.3k per month. So above that = high taxes. (this all in HUF of course)

Other than that, our women and booze are amazing
 
Where are you moving from? It is a great place in terms of cost of living and still having access to wider european services and amenities.

I would not say it has a higher safety level being in Russia's backyard, they fought a war in 2008, there were tanks on the outskirts of Tbilisi.
 
100% recommend Hungarian girls are feisty in bed - have great body - and very caring culture.

Idk about cost of living tho

Thanks, @eNzim, if I am able to make it up I will ping you for sure. I already rented an apartment in Zamardi which is near to Lake Balaton I guess. I need to know more about the taxes. Can I pm you about it if you don't mind?

Bangladesh. It's not confirmed yet but the paperwork is done. I got an appointment date end to the March. If they approve my application then I will move there.

I am thinking about the permanent residency. But initially, if they approve my application I will get a 1-year visa.

Google is either stupid or lying about taxes. lol

Probably we have the highest VAT inside the EU, 27.5% on most things.
Literally anyone, who owns a small business needs to trick with the taxes and salaries, otherwise it wouldn't be profitable to have employees. That's how low the taxes are here.

Low crime rate is actually true.

When are you planning to move here? Now because of the virus situation there's a curfew from 8 pm to 5 am. Restaurants, clubs, gyms are closed. Hotels ditto. There are strict mask rules even on the street in cities with more than 10k population. So probably it would be a good idea to wait until summer, when the restrictions will get lifted hopefully, if you really want to move here.

It's not the worst place to live, but even in the close neighborhood there are better destinations in my opinion. With all honesty i'd rather choose Croatia or Slovenia. Just the other day i read about the 1 year digital nomad VISA in Croatia:
