Might buy Xrumer - Need help with getting started

Hey OP
How did you got your copy of xrumer? I paid them using moneybookers on 23rd Oct 09 but still haven't got my copy, have mailed them a couple of times, but they have like stopped responding me after i made the payment though they were responding before the payment was sent and even can't seem to find them online in ICQ so wanted to know if there is any other mode to contact them ?

I just hope it's delayed just due to weekend

Cheers

try contacting botmaster via icq or skype, he doesnt really reply to emails.

also i think he doesnt like to work on sunday.

For OP
Also did you downloaded the demo copy from botmasternet.com site and activated it or you got another copy of xrumer? because the demo copy available on their site is having some trojan as per kaspersky

Cheers

EDIT: Just got explanation from botmaster about it that their software is a massposting software so the antivirus detects it as malware moreover he even told me that they are having some problems in the admin area so i'll get my copy today later on

That sounds dodgy to me, what Trojan does Kaspersky say that it has?
Has anyone else found this before?

I have the same feeling so i've setup a vps on my dedicated server and i'll run it from the vps so if it really has any trojan it won't affect my home PC or even my dedicated server.

And i've got my copy will try it tommorrow

Cheers

Edit: Even the full version appears to have the same malware/trojan as per kaspersky

It has been mentioned on the official forum a few times. It seems most AVs dont flag it though.

I just purchased XRumer today and I am concerned about the trojan warnings. I am waiting on acceptance into the botmaster forum.

Symantec reports "Backdoor.Trojan", "Downloader", and "Suspicious.Graybird.1"

I understand sometimes tools (WPE for example) need to do unusual things that are mistaken for malware, but these seem alarming to me.

I wouldn't expect botmaster to try to screw his paying customers but it's conceivable that he got infected. I'm not going to run the program until I get on the forums or at least set up a dummy machine with nothing on it. A pain in the butt!

Rubini as per their official forums, it is not a virus/trojan it is just flagged as trojan because it's a mass poster, i've read it in their official forums and also personally talked to botmaster about it, but still to be safe i'm not running it on my home PC or dedicated server, i've created a VPS on my dedicated server and running it on it. So if anything is infected then it will be just the VPS not my whole server :)

Cheers

Hi Xrumer Users...

I provide the complete "Xrumer Toolbox" that will solve all of your problems. Read this post for more info.

If its not doing so already you could add filtering of false positives from the logs as well... ie removing those cases when it shows a success but in reality there its a failure, I remember in your video there were plenty of such cases in your logs... quite an easy thing to add and would be real value to many people esp. those selling the services.

I have this script already (and presume you do too as you sell verified lists), but my one is simple and based on checking for a keyword (which is fine for my use but perhaps not the best method for something to sell to others).

Everybody really once you filter your lists you dont get those false postivies anymore... much nicer having lists with a real 99% success rate rather than normal success lists with many false success reports, once cleaned up even a small list of 40,000 becomes gold as you get the full 40,000 links which would normally need like a 400,000 linkslist, and you do the whole 40,000 link run in 20-30mins... so saves lots of time too. (I know a lot of you guys sell link packages with tiny numbers like 1000 links, if you have your lists organised properly such a tiny blast will be under 1 minute of server time...)

I don't believe that a mass poster would in any way need to contain (or appear to contain) a backdoor. Not that I don't believe you -- I would easily believe that that is the official line. And I would believe that it is there on purpose, as opposed to accidental infection.

This is pure speculation on my part, but perhaps it exists as a copy-protection measure to deter and punish violators. Which is a reasonable goal.

Regardless, for me it means I can't run it from a machine that touches anything at all sensitive. I usually have at least one extra disposable machine lying around here but as it happens right now I don't. :(

LOL can't believe someone who bought xRumer is whining about possibly opening a backdoor/trojan :D It is the most used forum spamming tool in the world, hell yes your AV is gonna flag it. You downloaded it off the official Botmaster site etc. where a few k people have also downloaded it from.. I'm not even gonna say anything more, but you don't have the 'xRumer' attitude quite yet :p

I actually sell a new "parser" which re-arranges the logs in a way that you can understand and use them.

For example, you have a client who you just did a promotional campaign for. You send them the Xrumer logs and chances are 75% of the logs at the top don't reveal published messages.

To demonstrate the "live published links" as opposed to urls that display the registration/post blog page but fail to publish the dynamically generated landing page where the message is posted, I created a parser.

The parser that you can re-arrange the logs so that all of the ACTIVATED posts appear 1st, followed by the forum messages, etc. In most cases, its the BLOGS & GUESTBOOKS that fuck everything up with Xrumer cause you often find that the published results are pending in a "moderation" que.

The key to my parser is so that when you send your clients their Xrumer logs, they can actually copy/paste the urls directly into the browser and get results. The blogs/guestbooks are put way at the bottom of the list.

I sell the parser for $35.

If an antivirus cant read what the files it sets the alarm bells ringing. Xrumer is programmed in a way so that it becomes impossible or very time consuming to crack it. So they have to use encryption of the highest possible manner to make it uncrackable thats why some AV's cry..Nothing More I think

Maybe I don't. It's a forum spammer and popular, therefore AV flags it as having a backdoor? This logic doesn't make sense to me. I could write a program that does the same (except the captcha) which has no security threat at all whatsoever to the local machine. It would not contain a backdoor, nor be mistaken for having one, no matter how popular. AV might issue a warning for finding a "bad-guy" tool (like it does for password crackers), but that's totally different from a backdoor threat. Next you're going to say it's reasonable for XRumer to come with a keylogger.

I could believe, like silent_thunder said, and like I said earlier, that XRumer is using these means to prevent unauthorized use. Maybe with encryption and self-modifying code that is similar to what viruses do. Perhaps executing remote code and allowing remote inspection to verify that the user is properly authorized.

But just because it's a popular forum spammer? Seriously?

What I was saying is that I find it quite stupid of someone who purchased xRumer through the legal way, downloaded it off Botmaster's site etc. I believe in the help it even says that some AVs could treat it like some kind of trojan, so turn your AV off.. Botmasters forum same thing; turn your AV off. There are hundreds to thousands of people who have downloaded the same files that you did, no one ever reporting an actual backdoor/keylogger whatsoever, even though there $80-ish AVs could have shown red alerts with a $500 soft that spams and is very strongly secured.

Honestly I think if you're willing to dedicated some time using it can be worthwhile. For most people though I recommend purchasing XRumer blast services. I will tell you I have purchased it and I have just scratched the surface of using it. I will also say that it's the application that will kill your pocket but running it on a dedicated server (they way I am using it, the server needs to be a beast).

If you have your own product you are promoting then yes get it. If you're trying to stuff some affiliate links or trying to get a quick turnaround for SEO or want something quick to set up then stay away.
