Microsoft Surface and IM: Anyone using the Surface?

I'll never buy an Apple product as long as I live, and I decided against a new ultrabook for now and want a tablet, and the detachable keyboard makes it more appealing.

Who here is using the Surface with IM? Any compatibility issues with bots/software? Looks like the Desktop is only one component of Windows 8 and I fear some bloatware might slow it down, but that can he taken care of.

Any help or suggestions are appreciated. My second choice is a Lenovo ThinkPad, which looks awesome but turns into a more clunky tablet.

Its hard to use it on your lap. If you use Surface on your desk its good to go.

Surface is great, tablet when out and about then connect to a 24inch when you get home. The digitizer is great for writing notes and Ideas while on the go.

I've always wanted to buy the Surface. Is it any good?
