Hey,

I was surfing the web and ran across Windows and the student discounts offered to those with a .edu email. Some of the deals are absurdly low, anyone think it would be profitable (and worth it) to pay students a few bucks on top of the actual cost of the software, and resell it for lower than face value but still boatloads higher than it cost to buy using a student?

Thanks,

Clay

As with anything else on ebay, consider all of your expenses.

So (complete examples - I don't know the prices), you can buy a copy on student discount for 50% off 299.99 (149.99), and pay the student 20 bucks, so now it is 169.99. Now you sell it for ebay value (279.99) and ebay/PP take 15-20% of the price (so now it is 239.99), for a complete profit of 70$.

Now, is this (hypothetical) 70$ profit worth your time? Would it take one hour to find someone and get this purchased/listed/shipped, or eight hours?

Anyhow, if I was you I would just buy some .edu email addresses (if possible) to get the discounts.

Hope this helped!

Good luck $$$ :sombrero:

You just need an .edu email address to buy them at student prices????

I bought Academis softwares a few times in the past.

Most of the times, I did this for expensive software suites and glad I did.

I prefer to avoid Ebay when buying Academic softwares, too many risks IMO.

But I had good experience with

Code:
http://www.academicsuperstore.com/

And if I buy from this website, could I resell this on eBay without any problems?

It's not worth the hassel to put it on eBay. The few bucks you make wouldn't be worth Microsoft finding out from eBay who you are.

You'd have to make major statements about how this is the Academic Version only for students and shit to protect your ass and by then it kills your marketing.

Oh, and there are China knock offs out there that actually work and update. So that whole niche is shot to hell.

Just out of curiosity, what is the difference between the Academic versions and the full versions? Do they take features away?
If I were going to buy some really expensive stuff and just being a student would get me money off. I would do it. I don't think it would be good for biz though.

student discounts are around 15usd for the whole macrosoft set. I know this cuz i was in school a year ago and thats what they offered me. Your best bet is to post it at a smaller third party site NOT EBA.Y
