Microsoft: "No more updates for Windows 10"

Both windows 10 and 11 are great.

Its just you as operating system force ne to change my totally find pc because your windows doesn't support my chip! Really dumb move. We need new companies ib every major tech sector as the old ones have gone crazy with their greediness

I'm sure by q3/q4 this year, we will hear more news on windows 12
windows 11 is fucked and they know it, rumors has it, they already dedicated most of the team on w12
May be a weird coincidence but, even numbered windows releases are usually better than odd numbered ones (like win 7 for example). Expect a good one for the win 12 I guess. :p

I'm always amazed its StatCounter reporting on things like this, web statistics and whatnot, one of the less popular analytics choices, and yet we still get the best statistics from them in some cases.

Since Windows 11 was launched, Windows 10 is living on borrowed time. Now Microsoft announces that there will be no more major updates – Windows 10 version 22H2 is the last. For the time being, Microsoft will only release security updates monthly until the operating system retires for good in 2025.

Windows 10 with a 73% slice of the market and Windows 11 with a 21% cut.

So make sure you buy a new computer, or you are fckd. Bad fckn move.

Windows 11 have now TPM bypass so works on lower end as well now .

I think we should make an poll for windows 11 and 10 , I am thinking to switch to windows 11 soon as well .

This will at least gives me an incentive to move my main machine to Linux when my main machine (win 10) reaches its end of life.

I moved to Mac island & i'm not coming back, especially that in recent 2 years, my work doesn't involve much softwares/tools and if there's any, it's be running on a server or a VA computer.

Tbh i think this is great news. Now i can finally debloat win10 and remove spyware/cortana etc and it will stick, not reset after bullshit feature updates. This makes win 10 pro very similar to LTSC if you debloat it. LTSC rocks tho but its expensive if you want it legit. Win11 sucks, nothing improved and bugs/crappy start menu. Thanks Microsoft!

I dont care as a proud Linux Mint User
yeah, I can hardly wait to get (back) on Linux, too. But I'd need a new PC for this to happen because my current PC had been put together specifically to run Windows. I've tried running a few Linux distros several times, and the BIOS (which is actually a hybrid BIOS-UEFI as I understood) is very fussy about running anything else besides Windows.

Mint has been the only distro that had run pretty smoothly (given the circumstances), so I did toy with Linux for a little bit about 5-6 years ago. And I caught the bug :D

The only problem is the sheer amount of apps that require Windows, but if I manage to get a new PC I'm going to run Windows in VM anyway, so I don't really care about MS's shenanigans....

What do you mean by it can run only Windows, that is a bit weird what brand is your PC? Also, 5 years is a long time Mint have progressed really great, put it in a live USB and check out if it works or not.

it can run Linux, too, but not very well. I remember someone from Toms Hardware who had helped me run linux about 6 years ago telling me that it was the BIOS's fault. He said that it's a hybrid BIOS - UEFI and that that's what was causing it issues.... plus the secure boot, and other stuff. All of these combined prevented the computer from even booting the live USB, I've gone through hell for over a week to try and make it work. Even today I still have about 24 or 25 CDs that I've created with various distros, hoping that at least one would work :D

Well, more than 1 worked... sort of (with crashed, freezes, etc), so I've decided not to mess around with it anymore and just keep using Windows. So yeah, not going to run Linux on this computer, I'll just get a new one since I want to make the move from Intel to AMD anyway, and will run Linux on that one. But for now I'll roll with what I've got :)

When i downloaded windows 11 my laptop getting too much lag and running very solwly , keep away from windows 11
I have 3 x w10, 2 x w11 on the same laptop. I don't feel any difference. For old apps I have XP on Virtual. All good.

They should stop releasing new windows if there is no groundbreaking feature that need complete redo done.
since there are no ground breaking feature, it force them to make dumb change that make people hate it.
well it's all done for profit. since new windows mean people buy new one ..
