Microsoft announce Ipad Rival *surface*

meathead i respect you greatly but other people still have buyipad.net and other such domains
I thought so long as you weren't claiming to be microsoft (which i wouldnt dream of doing) and selling official produce it was ok

you probably know better than me however

well thanks for that, sure did alert me, will be doing abit of research now to see how big it will be ie the surface, but if anything i think you will get away with the review sites, well done on the domains.

Are these domains developed, though? They are completely worthless until they are actually generating income, at which stage you'll be an easy target for a large company like Microsoft. You may be able to argue it from a legal perspective, but I hope you have deep pockets to pay for a good lawyer.

the news only got released 20minutes ago
i plan on developing them however :)

when it comes to things like these iv always taken the approached of being holier than thou etc etc

in this case i imagine i would buy buying from microsoft as a merchant, in anycase exact match domains give me a small headstart

anyway haven't really had a chance to think about it yet :)

you never know 6months down the line you may be selling these for me :)

I remember when Microsoft Surface was a massive table.

meathead what about all the people with free ipad, and free xbox etc in their domain names? They are obviously using, building and generating income, yet they havent been taken down by microsoft for example. I understand, stay away from branded domains, but i have come across alot which are still going strong, only thing to affect them is the penguin update really.

Just remember that if your site ranks very well, they may hit you with a copyright or trademark claim.

Some of those d. names are generic enough to give him room to bargain at least if Micr0soft went after them. Not that it matters much. If they want the names, they will get them no matter how deep your pockets are.

Richard Br---on, I hear is planning a class action suit against v1rgins since he masters trademark lawsuits even against businesses who had the word 'v1rgin' in their name since the days before Br---on lost his.

In USA, dilution of a trademark is typically what they hit you with first as a civil charge, if they are confident enough of a win. Of course if you give up the names, that goes away and they will even pay for the d0main transfer.. S

In any case , good luck. Make the most of it while the fire's hot.

OP don't worry, make some bucks out of them and then move on. I still have an ipad#### (.com) related domain name, who made me around 1k from cpa in 1-2 months around the release date. Then I don't care about it.
