People make fake facebook profiles for all sorts of reasons an interesting revelation is that Microsoft might be in cahoots with facebook. Before you can set up a facebook account you need an email account, like Microsoft?s - hotmail / live or outlook. However if you have created this new email account just before signing up to facebook forget it, facebook knows this is a recent account that has not been used and will refuse you. HOW CAN IT KNOW THIS? Even a fresh account that has been sitting for a month won?t work, it needs to have been used.

Maybe email headers for verification are revealing account age? SMTP headers can include lots of data, just like HTTP headers, perhaps when a verification email is sent, Facebook gets the account age as well. Just an idea.

Facebook like certain email services and dislikes others and theier likes and dislikes keep changing but they always loved .edu email extensions and premium domain mails

Every accounts seller is making the accounts with hotmails, thats the problem right there ;)
