Microniche Networks

Lately I've been reading alot of threads on various forums about guys/companies owning 50-100-500 micro niche websites. I'm more specifically interested in the people claiming to have unique content and such. Is it possible to make a good income from a few hundred MNS' without relying on heavy automation? Surely the outsourcing costs must run pretty high. I guess if each site pulls in $1 a day from Adsense that's more than enough to cover the cost of things?

Is this a solid business model?

Outsourcing costs for a large MNS network don't really matter if you use natural growth. Invest in a small number of sites and make them profitable. If you're risk averse, just pay for domains and hosting and do all the initial work yourself. After you've broken even, reinvest all revenue into additional websites and start outsourcing tasks if you like. Once the ball gets rolling, the network will grow pretty fast.

This is how most people with large portfolios started out. It doesn't require a large bankroll to get to that point, and it doesn't have to be built overnight.

seems like everyone is trying this all the sudden, even me.. fuck i thought i was doing something a bit more unique..

I think its because we all belong to the same mailing lists, so we all end up hearing the same webinars, or get the same information emails, but we think we are the only ones..

Is it realistic to expect each MNS site to pull in at least a few bucks a day?

Probably not. What some do is to build a basic shell of a MNS up (maybe one article with the main keyword, and some quality backlinks), then check after two weeks to see if it's working (improved rank and traffic stats, commissions or adsense clicks coming in). The MNS 'winners' (the ones pulling in a few dollars a day as designed) are then further built up (more content and backlinks), the others left alone.
