I'm fairly new here but I have dabbled in internet marketing the past few years. I like to think I know a decent amount about the business, since I do a lot of IM-specific writing for clients through my freelancing, but I've decided I'd like to see how a more "set it and forget it" type of website package can perform.
Micro niche sites were pretty popular a few years ago, but people say they can still be profitable. My guess is that yes, they still can be profitable, but I'd like to know to what extent. This is why I'm creating this journey/case study to answer these questions:
1. Are micro niche sites profitable?
2. How profitable can they potentially be?
3. How easy is it to flip an MNS?
4. Where can you find the best value for your money?
In order to answer these questions, I figure I will buy some for myself and see what works!
I've picked 4 providers on here to supply me with these sites.
20 websites from here: http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackh...icro-nich-sites-top-quality-only-30-a-16.html
13 sites from here: http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackh...e-search-engine-optimization-guide-hurry.html
5 sites from here: http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackh...ro-niche-adsense-websites-all-cpc-2-a-20.html
1 site from here: http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackh...ngine-optimization-cheapest-yet-powerful.html
39 websites total. These will be spread over 4 different hosts for about $5/month/host. The total cost of all 39 sites will end up being around $750. Domains will cost around $6/each (possibly less with a good coupon) for ~$234, bringing the grand total to just under $1000 up front, and $20/month in hosting fees.
My main focus is going to be first on the suppliers, then on the websites themselves.
I will be providing my input for the suppliers based on:
1. How well they communicate.
2. If work will be done when they say it will be done.
3. Quality of work done when the sites are delivered.
Input for the websites will be based on:
1. How easily they rank.
2. Average earnings per click
3. Total monthly earnings
4. Overall number of visitors
5. Ease of flipping
A few of the things I plan on doing with all of the websites include editing the content myself so that it is in perfect English, adding an ad platform, and building 1-2 social backlinks per site. Anything I do SEO-wise for one, I will do for all of them as long as this study is ongoing.
At some point, probably in a few months, I'm going to wrap up the study with some final thoughts and all of the hard numbers. When that happens, I'll probably still give sporadic reports about how the websites I decide to keep are faring. My ultimate goal isn't to sell every website, it's to keep the very profitable ones for myself, if any of the sites become extremely profitable.
