Methods to Get Offline Clients? [Local SEO/Rep Management]

I have been struggling to get more offline clients. I offer web design, seo, social media, reputation management, mobile marketing, etc.

What methods seem to work best for you in your city/state?

I have had some luck from Craigslist, but not much with cold-calls and walk-ins.

I was thinking of working on a flyer/mailer and sending them out to 50-100 businesses, that should be an easy 3-5 clients, right?

Any tips are appreciated!!!

I did a direct sales letter to 81 well researched prospects. They went out on the August 29th, so far no responses. Today is 9/5/12

have you followed up with a phone call? if not, you should
 
Cold calling is good to get clients for rep management.
But if you're english is good enough teen you rather call your self then you hire someone to do it for you.
Cold callers only collect contacts they dont sell....you do that or teach someoe who can do it for you!!

Rem management still works....it doesn't matter that it have alot ,2k or 3k per customer :)of competitors.....yes it's harder but not impossible.Easy to get 1k,2k or 3k per customer
 
I am American so the accent isn't an issue, I was born and raised here. I am going to try cold-calling and mailers to different parts of town and see what gives me the best ROI.

I might use the 7878 dice method, I found a pack of 400 dice for $25 online.

I'm going to go out on a limb and make a suggestion...

When I had first started offline consulting, I offered the full range of services like you're trying to do. Things didn't REALLY start to happen for me until I focused on one thing.

Business owners are used to being contacted by one-man shows that offer "everything they need." It's hard to trust that. Naturally, we doubt that one person could be that good at all those things.

I think it would help you immensely if you choose 1 thing and market to that. It will help you focus more on the customer you want, too.

For example:

I chose to do G+ Local (Google Places). I got really good at that and now I offer G+ Local optimized websites to those that need them... (ie: everyone lol) and I don't get into "web design;" I make it clear that the sites I do are for ranking and getting customers. They'll look professional, but I'm not going to build something that "speaks to them," or "wows" them.

Anyway... focus your marketing and be a specialist.
 
Magicbeanz brings up a good point. Once you get one thing nailed down and start building trust and a relationship with the business owners THEN use that connection to up sell and add on other services.

Are you selling websites, or just G+ Local creation for the businesses? If you don't mind me asking, what do businesses typically pay for this service?

I think I am going to split test, offer certain services to half my list, and certain services to the other.
 
That's amazing. I'm doing the exact same thing. I tell clients upfront I don't do websites. But I have contacts that I can recommend. I usually get a bird dog for that.

I met some "kids" in my area that started an SEO company and they're telling everyone that they can do PPC, SEO, ORM, websites, etc. Honestly, if someone told me that as a business owner, I'd run. That's like saying you're a professional plumber, electrician, and contractor. Sure, you can do all those things but you can't be the best if you spread yourself so thin. SEO is difficult enough to keep up with with all the algorithm changes and new theories and tools popping up everyday.

Long story short, I completely approve this message...

Lucky you are in America. Its hard for me to find leads in India. While I still can find some clients it sure is not as easy as America to convince people here why thy need SEO.

Anyway, choose 10 different niche (Dentists, Accountants, Lawyers, etc). Gather say 10 leads per niche from YellowPages. Do 7878's method.

Out of those 10x10 = 100 mails, wont you get atleast 3 clients? If you don't then some is wrong with your sales pitch.

You don't need any reputable products for this. There is a whole bunch of threads in this forum that share a ton of information about this; when you run out of stuff to read here, you can quickly Google up an infinite amount more.

It's not rocket science. Find a need and fill it! Pound the phones or pound the pavement if you want local clients. Get out there and network!

Craigslist is a nice source of leads if you do it right. That is why hiring a professional service where they can stick hundreds of ads per day to get you leads would be a good option. Other than that, try getting state business email addresses from Yellow pages or target any business in the United States looking that could use your SEO service. Local Businesses that make a good amount of money will honestly never say no. Work with them and make them a deal. If you need help with finding a service for Craigslist, I have contacts that would love to help you with a marketing campaign for your SEO Service.
