    Hi All,

This is my first method post here at BHW.

If it is in the wrong place, I am sorry.

I came up with the idea, if you have seen it elsewhere that is pure coincidence.

I have not actually tried it, it is just an idea.

If you think it is $hit I'm sure someone will let me know!

Ok, so the method is pretty simple and involves QR codes and content lockers.

Just in case you don't know what a QR code is, it is a bit like a barcode that contains a URL and when scanned with a smartphone takes the user to the URL, sorry I can't post pics yet, just Google it.

Now lots of businesses use QR code instead of long URLs on business cards/flyers etc.

Here in the UK we use a lot of buses and most bus stops have a QR which you can scan for live bus timetables/info.

So when a person waiting at the bus stop scans the code they get taken to www DOT bustimes DOT com for example.

Now my idea is to setup a content locker with your smartlink and the URL which the user finally gets taken to after they download an app is the original link (www DOT bustimes DOT com).

Now you go and get the QR code printed on to stickers the same size as the ones at the bus stops and just stick them over the original QR code.

Users might be a bit perplexed by the app download but will trust it as it comes from a major transport company like TfL (Transport for London/the London Underground).

    So that's it really.

If anyone does actually try this please post the results!

Shit, this is actually a good idea.

To bad QR code is not popular here in the U.S, the only time I see them is on xbox downloadable content cards or membership cards

+1 for thinking out of the box. Unfortunately we don't use QR codes much in our country so there is no way to tell if it works fine or not.
IMO, it should work well, so go and bank till it's good.

But you could go ahead and rank some sites for that info and content block them. Probably less expensive and much easier as to the amount of work and should be effective as well.

That is a really nice idea you got there, mate. :) It has huge potential, but the problem is I am in the wrong country to try this method out. Add me on skype, I would like to discuss about some ideas with you. :)

    SERIOUSLY!? A good IDEA?

    - You can be caught by surveillance cameras while placing the stickers.
    - A community will be using it - somebody will tell the authorities eventually. Guaranteed.
    - You can be traced back really easy by the money flow. The PPD Network. The hosting... (you have to pay for it) probably more.

On the good side, you have a high probability of entering the news. Congrats, you are the most famous IMer now!

I had a twist on that. Party towns, hand out cards that say, scan here to see if you can get a free drink at xyz. Talk to the owners, they won't care. Advance pay for like 12 drinks. Rig it to where someone can win, but only 12 times out of however many card scans. You have to complete a survey in order to win. Hand out 20,000 cards or however many. Everyone wants a free drink

Yes, if you scale it up, you will definitely bring yourself a problems. This can be used against your ''enemies'' as negative campaign as well.

Jesus man, no one is telling you to be a moron, fall blindly and break the law. Since every bad idea you got to make your own new & good idea.
This thread just gave me some thoughts that could surely be monetized 100% legally in any country.

Let me give you an example of a legimate way.

I'm doing iPhone 6 giveaway and make some posters with QRs to my landing page with my campaign. Then I stick them in a public places. People do always fall for this shit and as long as I make enough profit to actually give them the iPhone 6 i'm making the profit, no?

It's blackhat indeed, congrats! :) Personally, I wouldn't do it, it comes with risks, but the method itself sounds doable.

First, It wont work on my country
Second, I wont try that out as its kind of extreme blackhat, either I have to pay others to paste those QR and they can get caught in that act or it will be me who will get caught red handed.

But If you really get success in this, I am sure you can earn $$$ per day.
    Nice method still though

Well that sounds like a pretty good method and at least worth to try it. Unfortunettly QR codes in Poland aren't popular :(
