Yes unfortunately.Your best chance is to ask the person you were chatting with if they still have the conversation saved. Unfortunately, once removed, those messages are lost for good.

You can recover deleted Instagram messages by downloading your data from Settings → Privacy and Security → Download Your Information.

You could contact instagram support, but chances of recovery are very low.

Hey man, generally once a message is deleted on Instagram, it's permanently removed and cannot be recovered. Your only official option is to request your data from Instagram, but this usually only includes content that was active at the time of your data request, not messages you've already deleted from your chat history. It's tough luck, really.

Unfortunately, once messages are deleted on Instagram, they can’t be recovered unless they were archived or saved elsewhere before deletion.
