Yeah, this process is a 301 redirect from a real buffer site that collects links rather quickly to your main site. Notice the time of the post, since then 301s from domains have been also proven effective. It can work for any Tier or Link Level

If you're unsure, follow the instruction on the OP, and get to work developing the site that will later link to your main site, then gather backlinks, and then redirect.
