Traffic is the main component of any online earnings. I have read many methods on BHW but everywhere it is suggested to drive traffic from social networks. But there are other sites from which you can get traffic. I will talk about the method that I worked on a year ago.

I have used the forums.
Why are they good? All forums have a messaging system.
There are also disadvantages: work with forums must be automated due to the large number of users, and it is impossible to write to each user manually.

Another difficulty is that each forum has different restrictions (limits on the number of messages per day, the inability to send messages from new accounts, or too long a pause between sending). Because of this, I had to spend time checking the forums. I registered two accounts and checked if there are any restrictions on sending between messages, whether notifications come to the mail, whether the text is duplicated in the mail. If there were no restrictions, then using my own automatic script, I checked whether there were any restrictions on the number of messages sent per day. In case of their absence, I proceeded to register the required number of accounts.

The process of registering accounts can also be automated, which I sometimes did. But mostly I registered them manually. Usually I registered from 10 to 100 accounts. Their number depended on the restrictions that are on the forum. If there were no restrictions, then I registered the minimum number of accounts.

I also encountered such a problem that I could not register more than 3-5 accounts from one IP. My ISP provides a dynamic IP, so I just rebooted the router and continued to register. It took me about an hour to register 100 accounts manually.

For automation, I used one of the ready-made tools. I watched a few tutorials on YouTube, read a couple of articles about post / get requests, and then wrote my own script. Since all forums run on a specific CMS, I simply created a template for each popular CMS and for each forum I just made small changes that took 5-10 minutes.

For each forum, I used a unique tracker in the link. On average, from one forum I managed to attract 100-200 uniques and earn $10. Sometimes earnings could be less or absent altogether, and sometimes more. But I think I could get better results if I used spintax and a few different links, since most of the sent messages probably ended up in spam. Now I don't do it, but my path to CPA started with forums. I'll try to try this method again as soon as I have time, but now I'll improve my script a bit. I'll post the results in this thread.

First of all, great job!
I had a similar thoughts about promoting Smartlink via forums.
What niche are you promoting?

i had this idea in back of my head for years to hit forums. just never took action. i did however do this for years on other sites with PM system .same premise i imagine.
essentially make list of forums >> find cpa offer relevant to that forum >> automate the PM system telling people about it.
once you find good forum + offer + angle + landing page + efficient bot == it's 100% autopilot

so many forums, like this one, are super active with tons of members ranging from amateur to novice to experts. i figured it would look sus getting PM from brand new user w/ 0 posts [or like BHW - 15 post count to unlock the PM system]. anyway traffic is king so long as you can get high volume clicks, someone will eventually buy or opt-in.

curious why you stop & what was the method for choosing users to PM -- was it those recently online, new signups, or something else.

most ppl dont like to talk about their niche unless they milked it dry and moved on for obvious reasons. everyone reading this thread taking action will be lazy and jump in on same niche. i would look thru your aff networks looking for good epc offers then find forums for them. for instance you find an offer for gopro camera sweepstakes. next find forums who may be into that. most gopro users are adventure-types. so find forums for motorsports, kayak, bmx, eg anything comes to mind when you think "Who uses a gopro". sign up --> scrape users --> spam the PM system with your angle for the offer.

I agree on this one. I thought it may be adult thats why I've asked.

there are some big adult forums. porn-bb has 3289 members signed in right now. bhw has only 651.
what would you promote? -- "hi im 21 hot and horny come watch my cam <link to crakrev offer>" lol. or send it to your snapchat and go from there with the same thing.

I promoted adult dating. There were also ideas to promote products related to the niche of the forum, but I was afraid that affiliates would not accept spam traffic, so I did not try this method. And spam on the forums is a constant struggle with admins and moderators, so I often had to work at night.

Wow, that's interesting. I think you could make it automatic if you ordered a soft for working with forums. But even without it, result is impressive

reddit is kinda a forum, and good to post affiliate links

I was not satisfied with the amount of money that I received through the forums, I was looking for something that would bring me more money. This was the beginning of my path in automation and I was looking for something more profitable. Now I have found a more profitable method, so I stopped working with forums.
I sent messages to all users. Each user has their own numeric ID. I made a list of these IDs and sent messages from newbies to older users. This increased my chances of sending more messages, since it was often the old users who sent the complaints. I also removed moderator and admin IDs from the list to go unnoticed longer.
how do you find such forums
I just chose niche forums where the male audience prevailed. Cars, boats, fishing, sports, etc.

Interesting method.. I wonder if this would work promoting OF link.

Can you give an example of what kind of messages you were sending to the users?

1. Some forums have an increment of ID for their members and is easy to scrape and check recent activity, to avoid sending PM to dead accounts.
2. You can short the same link N times using bit.ly API + google spreadsheet. The secret is to add from "?1" to "?9999" at the end of each link that needs to be shortened.

Nice share BTW

I wrote something like "Hello. Looking for like-minded friends. Would you like to meet? Here are my photos - url"

1. Yes, you can, but I didn’t bother with it because all users receive a notification by mail and even dead accounts wake up.
2. Yes, this is also possible, but I didn’t bother with this either and used a new link for a new forum each time. But recently I rewrote my script and added randomization for text and links to it, but I have not yet been able to check how much the results have changed.
