There's been about half a dozen threads on the dangers and risks of this tool. After some searching and watching some Youtube info from Google about tagging effects on blogs, I came across this quick tutorial that showed the two steps to using this plug in successfully:

STEP 1. How to set up the plug in - NEVER Use The Default Settings, Change EVERYTHING!

STEP 2.
Wiping Away the Plugin Comment Code Foot print

http://www.thenichestorebuilder.com/seo-searchterms-tagging-2-footprint-removal.htm

With this set up I have only seen a 20% increase in traffic, no negative impacts what so ever, i.e. all the blogs I've used this on contain original content.

Good Luck

Thanks for pointing this out. I checked the site and installed the plugin. It seems like they have updated the plugin quite a bit.

P.S: What I don't get is when you check everything to 'no' how does the plugin work?

I tried searching for a term, click on my page but I don't see any difference. Is this plugin geared up more towards SE's? If so, how come I don't see anything in the source code as well?

Hey Seoguy81,

I have been debating with that this morning. There is actually only one yes, which is the add list right after post content, but if you don't have the "Yes, link to post content" button selected then they don't become live tags (I don't think).

People have confirmed trouble with selecting "Yes link to search page" but I haven't read any issues with link to post content - so I just turned that "back" on to try and compare it.

I think the paragraph format helps a bit and removing the internal tags (although I only found 1, which I think was part of the plug in update).

So far no issues, but I do now have to "Yes" circles selected. I will report if any of the 6 blogs I use take a hit as a direct result.

I just deleted the plugin from all my sites, I can't take the risk.

Nice share tho, I hope it works for you guys.

dam i never thought of this....does this apply to all plugins....viewing my souce pages now and i see alot of green comment codes.....

are these the footprints we need to remove..

could someone elaborate more on this....shed some light here please

thanks

I remember this got all my sites de-indexed at one point, after the tweak they came back though.

Not all plugin code comments will get your site de indexed. I suppose it only has to do with any plugin that has to do with indexing or something on those lines.

Hey IamNRE

Did you see a significant drop in traffic after you removed he plugin?

Excellent tips. When I first got this plugin I changed every setting. But I didn't even think about the comments! One thing I'm wondering now though, is if the SEs can read the comment code, surely they can read the executable code too? If so, does anyone know of an obfuscator for php?

Thanks and rep given.

Your sites became indexed again? I have had 3 sites de-indexed after using that plugin and as far as I know once your site is de-indexed then that is it ..... gone ... never to be seen on G again.

If you did manage to get a de-indexed site back then I would love to know the secret.

I'd love to hear it too. I'm working on one of my sites that was deindexed one month ago. I'm not too sure I should still be working on it but hell, no try no gain.

Building high PR (homepage) contextual links, creating a new category with unique contents, Google +1 are some of the SEO things I'm doing right now. If anyone has any advice, it is very much appreciated!

Cheers!
