Nice, good luck - people are glued to their facebook 24/7 - it is a great way to get exposure and deals.
Obviously if you aren't selling high priced services then you adjust your referral fee. This isn't so much about the amount - it is the concept - that people love gift cards. If you are selling $1,000 website packages then giving a $100 kickback i worth it. If you are selling $3,500+ packages then yes, $500 is well worth it to get those clients signed up - because they tend to turn into additional business as well.

I wish I'd thought of this myself. I'm about to try something out on Facebook and I think this might just give business a boost. I need to start following your posts more because this one was GOLDEN.

I didn't get anything from my facebook post, but I generated two deals today, called about 15 people. And actually got a meeting from leaving a voicemail with a business haha.

How about doing this, but paying a big facebook page to promote it for you. Do you guys know how to find a page with a lot of reach, and then pay for a status?

Honestly, I wouldn't even waste your time - I mean you could try to find some and contact them...but many of the big pages that do status updates have a huge "kid" audience - not the best target for web design or web marketing. Anyone with large pages around these topics are marketing directly to them.
The point of offering referrals to Facebook contacts is to connect with people you know - rather than just random users.

He acquired them free of charge, I'm sure he'll get loaded ones to pay out when the time comes. The convenience here is that he doesn't have to pay upfront so he may offer a wide variety of cards and then only pay into the ones that are necessary.

lol come on man....why would you even think this was "scamming them out of their commission"??? Got them unloaded to take pictures of them...to post on Facebook - then got real ones once claimed.
This is simply just ideas - if you want to go get 10 gift cards and load them up, great. Some stores may not give you them for free. Stores have them all over - you bring them to the register - they load them. The blanks are worthless. The girl checking me out that day let me take them - some may not. So, now I use the blanks to post the bait - then get a real one for the referral partner - you can get a giftcard to virtually anywhere - I now let them pick anything they want. I have activated ones for the more popular places like iTunes and Best Buy...and also to places like Outback. I keep them happy - if they want a giftcard to some obscure place, fine...it keep them happy and they will begin to sniff out more possible deals for you because they want that reward again.

Received a lot of questions about where to get blank gift cards to use as bait...was Christmas shopping earlier today and all the big stores have huge displays.
Here is one that was in WalMart outside where the shopping carts are - just in the open - it was a monster with 4 sides and gift cards to virtually every store you could think of. You could snag as many as you wanted without anyone saying anything. It was in the first set of doors where the carts are....then with another set of doors into the store. I doubt anyone would say anything if you grabbed a handful.
Then there was this one in the middle of Sears....
So, with the Holidays here these monster gift card displays are all over.

Targeted "fans" - run ads. But they don't know you from a hole in the wall - random strangers aren't going to put out the same effort - if you want to run ads - go after the end client - not a middle man.
This is about getting your friends/personal connections to feed you referrals.
