I found a way to recover the deleted home page in google sites. Let say your google sites page is

Code:

https://sites.google.com/view/example/

Assume that Google has deleted this page due to some TOS violation. Google only deletes specific pages and not all the inner pages. Create a new inner page, copy the home page content into this, and make this a home page. Publish again and you will be able to access the home page.

Shame Google site pages don't rank too well. There's so many ways to get a site on big corporate sites & universities.

Note that to not index https://sites.google.com/view/example/home variant of the home page. If you have indexed this url and then make the internal page as home page, then your rankings will not come back. Your new home page url will be something like, https://sites.google.com/view/example/internal-page.

So always index this, https://sites.google.com/view/example/
