This is a method I haven't seen on the forum before (that's not to say it's not already on here but I just can't find anywhere!). With the majority of people using the link pyramid method of ranking sites, those who are building the tier 1 links manually may be leaving some money on the table.
If you have ever tracked traffic to the tier 1 properties you have built you have probably noticed that they pick up a bit of long tail search traffic. This is especially true if you're blasting these pages with web 2.0, article and blog comment links, as they will begin to rank for a ton of things you would never think of.
So for those building the tier 1 pages manually, try sticking some relevant affiliate links in the content and you should find you start to get some clicks after a few days. I've heard this method called ? monetizing the cloud?, and while it won't make you any serious money (unless you're building an insane amount of tier 1 pages), it's usually enough to cover your money site hosting every month. It's like taking the Squidoo concept and doing it on other web 2.0 platforms.
Obviously you need to mix up which affiliate programs/accounts you use to avoid leaving too much of a footprint. Has anyone else had much success with monetizing their tier 1 content?
