The answer you submit to Quora, does it have anything related to the product you are promoting (other than being in the same niche)? Would you go out of your way and write details about the product within the answer? Or you just aim to get to rank 1 and hope the readers click the link for whatever reason?

The whole Quora platform seems confusing to me. The answers to questions are usually answers from other related questions and it's one link after another. It's a bit too wild for me to know where to rank.

They are testing a few things right now, and yes, it does seem confusing. Have you tried answering some questions and then tracking the traction?
