[METHOD] How to get genuine backlinks from Wikipedia [EN]

I randomly stumbled on this page on wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:All_articles_with_dead_external_links

It basically includes all the dead links [needing replacement] from external sites on wikipedia :D
So no need to scrape and check.

This method is called broken link building:

Step-1 : Find a page with broken external links related to your niche

Step-2 : Scroll down and see which link is broken. Example: http://prntscr.com/ml7oeu

Step-3 : Replace broken link with link to your site

or if you can't find a relavant article on your site:

Step-1 : Find a page with broken external links related to your niche

Step-2 : Scroll down and see which link is broken. Example: http://prntscr.com/ml7oeu

Step-3: Create new article on your site and replace the dead link on wikipedia with yours.

I would like to add that if you are putting a link to your site from wikipedia, make sure the linking page is relevant and high quality. Or sooner or later some editor will remove your link.

Okay but is there an easy way to search through all the broken links? Hitting next to view the next 200 is pretty tiring. Thanks.

On further research, I found this free tool: https://www.webfx.com/seo-tools/wikigrabber/

You put in your keyword, and it will find all wikipedia pages related to your keyword with [dead links] and [citation needed]. It works pretty fast and well.

@mhtro maybe this is the tool will help you....


I would request @moderators @BassTrackerBoats to add this link to the original post, as it greatly reduces the search time required.
 
This method is pretty old but I am sure it is still relevant. The dead link list is pretty awesome. I had to do it manually before. Not only the link juice, but you might get some super targeted traffic too (I have tried this way back and had partial success) if things done right.
 
I think people need some guidance here.

There is NO requirement to replace a dead link on Wikipedia.

Editors on Wikipedia use edit filters, automated editing softwares and detectors who catch promotional links very soon and then block your IP or account for promoting it.

There are too many trolls wasting their lives to get additional positions in that website and they watch basically every edit very closely.

To make it small, Wikipedia is just a waste of time. Find something better.
 
I don't think it's that easy to replace a dead link on wikipedia IMO.

You need to have an aged account that has done a few edits.

Additionally, just like in BHW or anywhere else, you get more claps when you catch "an aged account that has done a few edits" engaging in some violation of their rules. No one is allowed there to promote their links there.
