So today as I was browsing around Facebook, I noticed some Facebook Fanpage ran a contest and made a post releasing the 20 or so winners. In the post, they clarified that so many people shared the page, that if 2 people happened to share the page with the exact same names, than both people would win if their name was chosen. SO, I quickly changed my name on facebook to that of one of the winners and messaged the page claiming my prize. They immediately responded and requested a shipping address. The prize was a nice 100 dollar set of LED lights for Jeeps or something. Ill probably sell them on ebay.
I began to think about how these contests owners probably dont cross check anything before sending somebody the prizes. They just read your name, reference it with the names on their winners list, and pack it up and ship it out. Even if they didnt say duplicates still win, I still think a lot of these people wouldn't notice if the same person claimed the prize twice. And hell, maybe your prize will be on its way to you before they realize anything.
Im going to try this a few more times and see how many more times I could get away with it.
If your gonna try this out, post your prize and if they caught on or not!
MODS: If this would be better in another part of the forum, please feel free to move it.
