OP, you sly dog you. This works. What I'm interested in knowing is if the site admin updates the plugin/theme version, does that mean the zip download will also be updated?

I don't think so :( But in a lot of cases they don't check if you have actually purchased the theme or not so you can update them without problem :)
 
by the way check backlinks for nulled versions. wp has addon for it. u can find if u google. ;)
 
Tryed to find a premium theme for my wp blog and no results(
 
it works for me. just tried the method with some random premium wp theme (photocrati)...
 
yep, pretty good method and it CAN BE used for tons of other things, not just themes
 
It is a good method, but usually you get old outdated themes or plugins with this method. Better try nulled and manually or using plugins check the site after installation for malicious codes.
