[Method] How my competitor screwed my analytics

I feel bad for you bro. But i guess youre lucky to have had a hunch on who the guy was. imagine experiencing that without even the lightest idea who did it! :o

i have always thought that because we need to verify our primary site with GA that this cannot be done. It turns out that like adsense, once you have verified a primary site, you can use it on other domains as you please. :(

Im surprised that there isn't something in the settings that allows you to check "only enable on this domain" so that people cant jack your code :(

Dude, calm down..
Check through analytics settings, there is a way to disallow other sites then your own site..

Wow, all of us that use Google Analytics are vulnerable to this type of attack. I thought the code would only work when it was on a page with www_yourdomain_com.

Lucky I don't GA and my tracking code is encrypted upon load ;)

Calm down? No one on this thread is getting excited. We're just sharing things to help others. Mind sharing how you did that?

1. Go to G analytics, change to the new appearance.
2. On the right side there is a small reel, click on it.
3. Hover to Profiles->Filters.
4.Create a new "include only" filter, write down your domain and have fun :D

Personally I stopped using analytics long time ago, switch to piwik.. monitor yourself and don't let other side 3 program to get your information.

;)

Kinda surprised it doesn't come that way out of the box!

Going to have to set this up, it happened again. Different site this time, but they jacked my code and included the Analytics code with it. Time for a nice little C&D letter from my lawyer. :hitwithro

You know his sites, so you can get his info :)

And also , you can get some nice revenge for him, but before that, send him message and explain and ask him to take all that shit down

That is the only bright side of it. Your analytics basically tell you who is doing it lol.
