[METHOD] High Converting Mobile Lead Generation For Local Businesses

Okay, so I thought I would contribute one of my methods for Mobile that is pretty solid and is generating really good leads. Could have tried and done a WSO on this one, but since it will end up here for free on BHW anyway, I thought I would share my thoughts. Okay, here goes...

Intended Targets: Any vehicle driving down the road with a magnetic sign and a cell phone number on it (i.e. - Contractors, Realtors, MLM'rs, etc.)

What you need to make it work:
--Chad Wyatt's Wordpress SMS Plugin
--One local Twilio number setup under SMS plugin
--A Wordpress implementation with plugin (of course)
--Mobile Lead capture page with video (will explain in a minute), click to call, sms and other buttons for contacting

Method:
This method is rediculously easy and it's bringing in customers for me left and right. The end goal is to create a mobile-optimized website for the customer that will contain a video sales letter. Also get them setup with a Twilio subscription billed directly to the customer for their SMS expenses. You will collect $97 (or your choice of price) for the website design to keep the impulse decision in play.

Assumption that you have build a mobile website with your video on it, along with an SMS campaign that will send a text message like the one I am about to list as the welcome message.

1. Ride around and gather a large handful of prospects by simply collecting the information from vehicle magnetic signs, wraps, etc.

2. Using the Chad Wyatt SMS Plugin dashboard in WP, setup your SMS campaign tied to the Twilio number you setup. Create a welcome SMS text message that reads something along these lines: "Hi, my name is JOHN DOE and saw your sign on your vehicle. As soon as you can, please click on the link below to contact me. (provide shorturl to your mobile lead capture page)

3. Create a brief video (I made mine in my vehicle so that it looks like I am on the go and in a hurry) talking about something along the lines of: "Hi, my name is JOHN DOE and I saw your sign on your vehicle and noticed something wrong with it. If you will give me just a moment, I will explain what I mean." From here, begin in your own words to explain to them that they are missing out on the power of mobile websites and text messaging to reach their prospects while they are on the go. Let them know that you chose to speak to them because you noticed that they were already marketing with signs on their vehicle as well as putting their cell phone number on it for others to contact them. Here's the VALUE PROPOSITION: Tell them that you have a way for them to automatically send a text message just like the one they have already taken action on by clicking the link, that will showcase their business and what they do using a mobile website like the one they are looking at right then. Let them know that all it takes is for a prospect to initiate a phone call to the number on their vehicle and the rest is automatic. Feel free to elaborate as needed, but try and keep it relatively short.

4. If the prospect is interested, they will be instructed to use the "click to call" button or "SMS" button below the video to reach you.

5. Let them know that you will only be charging them a flat $97 or amount you choose to build this solution for them. The only other charges are for the text messages they send at .01/message.

6. Rinse and repeat this process by entering a few numbers per day or possibly even outsource the number collection process.

Result: In addition to banking $97 mobile website money regularly, you will also be building a mobile list of business owners who showed interest. Right now I am averaging about 1 - 2 sales per day and growing. I've been at this method for about three weeks. So far I have banked about $1,500 using this method and it's easy to do each day.

For most clients, I build them a free Dudamobile website (ads visible) if they already have a website. For the ones that don't have one, I just make them a simple set of pages on a wordpress install I maintain using MobileLPS (Shared on this forum).

I could probably have done a better job of explaining this in more detail, but for the action-takers, you will get the picture.

Lastly, please feel free to (constructively) criticize this method. I want to make it a stronger one with some addon services later, but right now, it is a cash machine that opens the door with the business owner.

Just to understand on thing, you can import any amount of cell phone numbers into Twilio without them having to opt in ? What are Twilio's policies on spam abuse in this nature?

I certainly have not tested the limits of large volume number imports, but in the few thousand I have submitted via the SMS Plugin, I have experienced no issues with them.

This doesn't work for other countries outside of the main ones (US, Canada, UK) I suppose based on Twilio's limitations to the countries it can send the messages.

Do it will work in UK?

The method can be used in other countries if one can get a twilo like tool there, I suppose.

Yes, the problem is, getting a tool for other countries besides the main ones. Twilio only works for the usual players (US, Canada, UK, and just a select few EU countries).

Sorry I haven't chimed in lately on my method. I have been spending a good bit of time trying to get more mobile campaigns running. One would think that getting mobile ad campaigns going would be easy, but tying in Lead Capture in them is a bitch!

Anyway, I wanted to comment on a couple of things I have seen mentioned on this approach so far:

This only works with Twilio's auto-optin feature. It is also only available where Twilio is, which I believe is US and CA.

An extra twist that I have been testing the waters with is also approaching Brick and Mortar business that have signs for their business on poles and other means. I haven't gotten but two taker so far, but on ones that have the ability to change their sign easily, I use the same approach and have them use a Twilio number. Chances are that the people passing by in a car are going to call the number on the sign from a mobile phone. It's a harder sell, but it will work.

Next, have started using SignalHQ as my Mobile Texting platform for larger campaigns. I will keep the Twilio platform in place for the mobile signs, but I am really focusing on using the power of SignalHQ's mobile platform that also hooks into Twitter and Facebook. For $29 as the lowest package, you can have up to 1,000 mobile subscribers with UNLIMITED TEXT MESSAGING for the same price. I am at their $59/month tier for up to 2,500 subscribers, but that fact that there is no per message charge is massive! They also provide autoresponder SMS, Sweepstakes, Trivia Contests and more that all hook across the different Social Media platforms, email and SMS.

As for my mobile sign method (sorry to jump back and forth but my brain tends to do that), I am about to start approaching MLM companies to use the Twilio method for their BizOp promotions.

Oh, and one other thing that is working pretty well right now is using yard signs at really busy locations where Payday Loans are popular. The Fast Action Loans CPA offer pays $8 for a one page mobile submit. I cleaned up 29 conversion off of three signs netting me about $230 in under a week. After the cost of the signs, I am about $24 to the good. Anything going forward will be profit, minus the SMS costs.

I hope some of these things have helped everyone. They are not bulletproof methods by any means, but they do work and they are producing passive income.

One final "Out of the Box" offline opportunity that doesn't present itself to everyone is "Carnivals"....yep, those Carnivals that come to town once or twice a year??? I managed to get a SignalHQ campaign going for a carnival that comes to my town every six months. They travel year-round and visit about 30 cities. I noticed that they were passing out coupons for discount admission and/or free rides. I pitched the idea for a free trial while they were in my city for the week to gather mobile subscribers. I printed some flyers for them that looked like their coupons, except they had a text message keyword for a shortcode and a QR code as well. Let's just say that they retained over 200 mobile subscribers in four days. Here's the marketing pitch. I told them that the next time they were getting ready to come to this area, send out a text message blast to all the subscribers that opted in offering them a limited time discount. They loved the idea and if this works for them when they come back in six months, they will start running individual campaigns for EVERY CITY they visit! If this works well, I should be able to write my own check for them....wish me luck.

I certainly have not analyzed the limitations of large quantity wide range imports, but in the few thousand I have provided via the SMS Device, I have experienced no issues with them.

Thanks for this. One question: what does the client (local business) have to do to *their* marketing? Do they encourage people to text their number? or go to the minisite by putting the url/qr code on their sign? I'm not sure of the funnel here, which gets the lead to visit the minisite.

Interesting! Some cool ideas in this thread, but none of them I'd actually do in my country, haha. I'll just have to think of ways myself. One idea already here. To send SMS like this "You can pay for the service by sending an SMS, which costs __. Send PAY to 4235346". I believe there are ways of paying via SMS, but I'll need to get into this to learn more.
