So, I've been working on my offline SEO/consulting business for the last few months. I have a friend who is a marketing consultant, and passed on the SEO work for 1 client who I've spoken with 4 or 5 times so far, and I'm going to meet them on Monday - should seal the deal. This is a big client for me - 6k start up with a 4k monthly. I'm excited. Secondly, I'm meeting with a family friend who is a lawyer tomorrow. My plan with him is the Dan Kennedy Direct Mailing Method.. I know there's another name for this method, but I forget it now. I have already gotten his (the lawyer family friend) website to #1 organically - a month or two ago. I contacted him and told him what I did and that I'd like to meet with him to show him. I told him what I wanted in return was some business advice, a testimonial, and some references. I didn't say anything about paying me. He said sure, let's schedule the appointment and to come on by. Tomorrow at 10 AM. I'm hoping to meet with him tomorrow and ask about the structuring of my business - he's a business lawyer. Then what I want to do is ask to send a letter from him to 100-200 of his colleagues who own their own businesses. This will be on his letterhead, his envelopes, and it will be a letter about how I helped him with his website rankings, etc. I will pay for the paper and postage, obviously. That will then allow me to send another letter a week or two later saying, I'm the guy who your friend wrote to you about.. we're offering a free analysis for your online presences/reputation, etc. Follow up with another letter.. followed up with another letter. This 3 letter method is what Dan Kennedy talks about. Each one getting progressively more and more urgent with the calls-to-action. What do you guys think? Anyone have experience trying this method for offline consulting?
