Method for requesting takedown of Medium.com article?

The article effects my website negatively and ranks high on Google

Won't be easy if the writer has some good reputation.

If you're talking about an article that's negative about your business or site, you can try astrotufing it by getting other content to rank higher than that piece - basically find a parasite or review website and start building tons of backlinks to it. Spend a few dollars for edu & gov links to help push it up (they're temporary lasting, but will help expedite your results if you're building other links to the parasite).

Alternatively, you could try reporting the article if it's incorrect or fraud. Note this is a bad route to go about, if the article is legitimate. If there's outright lies you can send an email to Medium citing what's wrong in the article and how it's slander and how if it's not edited or removed you will take legal action. It's unlikely they'll do anything, but worth a shot.

You could also try to find the author of the piece and offer to pay them a small fee to remove the article. You would be surprised how often a little money works in silencing criticism - especially in times like this where the world is in recession and people are struggling.
