You mean AddMeFast Website hits? If you are talking about that, they are really useless, maybe they are good for boosting alexa rank...

EDIT: Important questions, when I am looking at sources of traffic I mostly see flipboard. Now I have two questions:
1. Why is flipboard acting as a referral when I am mostly using twitter as social promotion?
2. How the f*** I ended up on flipboard?

This post clarifies what likely happened in all actuality. As I pondered your situation it seemed really strange that you would get such a boost of traffic as a result of your efforts on twitter. More likely somebody with a high profile magazine published or curated your content. Best to analyze why/how they picked your content up, and be sure to add that most appropriately to your model. This may have been the result of some targeted follower, but was more likely a hashtag somebody scrapes automatically to curate content into their flipboard magazine.

If you can figure out what you got you picked up, then you may be on to the way this method could generate scale. At that point it might make sense to re-envision how you want to make money off these visitors as well. It's not going to work for adsense at all in my opinion ... CTR will be terrible as you have noted. Maybe you are missing a legitimate monetization angle though.
