Hi,

Here is a simple method I thought up today. Hopefully some of you will find it useful and hopefully some of you are already doing it.

Tools:
Scrapebox/expireddomains.net
SEOTools for Excel
MajesticSEO

Background:
When buying a domain, everyone focuses on PR way too much. Not only are most PRs just faked by they can also be lost quite easily if the backlinks don't hold. MajesticSEO is a great tool and has recently been made even better by the introduction of Citation Flow and Trust Flow, this is a great way to see the real value of a domain (similiar to DA on OSE) along with the usual backlink profile.

Method:
Start off by creating a list of expired domains either by grabbing them from expireddomains.net or by using the scrapebox TDNAM Scraper addon.

Now load up your list and open a Excel with SEOTools for Excel. Luckily for us they recently added MajesticSEO support. So all you have to do is copy your list into the MajesticSEO toolbar (which shows up on the left once it's loaded), select all fields, select Fresh Datasource and click Insert. Boom you now have a massive list of domains with stats next to them. Thousands in fact. Doing this manually would take far too long.

Select all, sort by whatever metric you deem most important. You should now have a nice list of domains with a high Citation and/or Trust Flow at the top of your list. Delete the rest of them.

Out of a couple of thousand domains I scraped a couple that seemed to be worthwhile. I then checked them manually in Majestic to make sure the link profile wasn't spammy, I checked them on Google to make sure they were still indexed, and finally I checked their PR. I'm sure you can find a way to automate this as well if you think hard enough.

Give this a go you might some some real gems. Remember a PR1 domain with high authority backlinks is going to bring you more value in the long term than a spammy PR3 domain.

i use dropday ,ahrefs, expireddomains.and its fun getting awesome domains. If you don't know game, then you get cheated!!

I'm new to this - what do you look for in the link profile to make sure it isn't spammy?

Thanks

Spammy links will have poor anchor text, pharma, XXX, non-related to niche. Check on top backlinks and look at page trust flow and spammy ones will have very low or no trust flow metric. To dig a bit deeper just right click and open some of the backlinks and see what the pages look like for top backlinks, if cheap directories or blog comments with thousands of others there then again, spammy.

I'll stick with RC that does all the work for me but nice method shared.

Make sure the links are doing good for the website. Check Alexa to see what website traffic visitors come from in my opinion this can save you allot of money. I like this method and think that people can use it to get domains but old dropped domains aren't always the easiest to rank they do not get the age credit therefor are just like a new domain. Best of luck trying to find a dropped domain with a good domain url as this is sometimes hard.
