[FONT=&quot]I hope everyone here have a blog and always have some sort of spam protection mechanism to prevent spam comments right? But how many of you really read all your spam comments? I guess only few people. Of course these spam comments are useless and adds no value to your blogs, but they add tons of value when it comes to SEO. Yes! In the form of backlinks! Confused?? [/FONT]:)[FONT=&quot] LOL let me explain you?

    [/FONT]
    Generic Spam Comments

[FONT=&quot]I have a Wordpress blog where I get around 10 spam comments per day and most of them are generic type comments. If you have no idea about generic comments, just read this:

    [/FONT]
    Code:
    http://gotchance.com/blog/2008/12/02/do-you-allow-generic-comments-on-your-blog/
For example, check the below given comments which I received in my blog. They are completely off topic, also they don?t look spammy!

What this method is all about?

These spammers are very aggressive when it comes to building backlinks to their site and also due to the increasing popularity of the little devil ?Scrapebox?, there is a rapid increase in generic type of comments hitting blogs. Let?s make use of it! J Yes, we are going to follow their footprints and harvest their backlinks! he he he :)

    Harvesting Spammers Comments

Let?s configure a ?honey pot?. Don?t worry nothing too technical, just turn off the spam protection in your blog :). You will gradually see increase in the number of spam comments. Collect all the generic type comments and save it in a file. You can ignore ?too spammy? comments. I do this task once in a week and I get around 100 spam comments. You can do this as per your convenience. The more comments you harvest, the more backlink you are gonna find.

    Harvesting Spammers Backlinks (Operation Payback)

Let?s have some fun harvesting spammer?s backlinks he heJ

Step-1: Open you comment list and Scrapebox.

Step-2: Take a comment from the list, put in the harvester field and select ?custom footprint?. (Note: You can start harvesting using the comments either putting them in double quotes or without double quotes and the result would vary. When you harvest without quotes, you can find pages with the spinned version of that comment, so you will end up getting MORE pages (so I recommend this))

Step-3: Start harvesting and save the harvested pages in a notepad. (Note: I only harvest from Google and Yahoo. That is more than enough.)

    Step-4: Repeat Step-2 & 3 and make a huge list.

Step-5: Remove all the duplicate pages using Scrape box.

Step-6: Now load that list into your ?Malware and Phishing Filter? add-on. Remove all the malicious pages. (Note: I highly recommend cleaning the harvested list with Malware and Phishing Filter because when you do comment posting using your harvested list, you would come across many pages injected with malicious code which secretly installs Trojans or some other Viruses which do NASTY jobs.

Now you have a clean list which contains a mixture of

    • High page rank pages
    • Auto-approved pages
    • Do-follow pages

I?m gonna split the method into two:

Method-1: Finding high page rank pages which are auto-approved for manual commenting.

Method-2: Building a list of auto-approved pages for scrapebox blast.

    Method-1

Finding high page rank pages which are auto-approved for manual commenting.

Step-1: Load the clean list into your scrapebox and check page rank for all the pages (not domain). (Note: When you check PR for a huge list using your private proxies, Google may temporarily block your private proxies so you won?t get PR for the all pages. To overcome this problem, you need to check PR with bunch of public proxies. Test your proxies before checking the PR and remove failed, duplicate and low latency proxies (I use public proxies with latency 2007 ms for this task.))

Step-2: Once PR check is done. Sort it by PR (from high to low) and export it to excel by selecting the option Import/Export URL?S & PR Export as Excel (Choose excel - very convenient when compare to notepad)

Step-3: Remove all the low PR pages. I usually remove pages with PR less than 3. Remember our target is to find HIGH PR pages. You can even go for PR1 pages.. that?s up to you.

Step-4: DO NOT remove PR N/A pages. The reason is we can?t trust public proxies. They are unstable, may not respond properly or take more time to respond. In that case, scrape box shows the page rank as N/A. So save PR N/A pages in a separate list.

Step-5: Test your proxies again and remove failed, duplicate and low latency proxies. Check PR for pages with PR N/A again. Add all the high PR pages to your main list. Repeat this step until you find all the high PR pages.

Step-6: Now you have a huge list of high PR pages. Here our target is to find high PR pages which is do-follow and auto-approved so that we can manually comment on that pages for backlinks! I prefer checking the pages ?manually? for do-follow and comment moderation. You can also use SB addon, but I?m not sure how accurate it is. You may miss some gold mine so why take a chance? :)

Step-7: To check do-follow, I use a Firefox add-on called ?No********?. You can get it from FF website. Just install it and restart the FF. To enable the add-on, right click on that page and select ?No********?. If that page is do-follow, it will highlight the links in that page in ?green? color. Do this for all the pages in your list. Also check the comment moderation at the same time. Save all your high PR do-follow and auto-approved pages in a separate list.

HINT: If you come across high PR pages which is do-follow and auto-approved, never forget to check the other pages in that site. I?m sure you will find many pages like that with low OBL, not RAPED by spammers! I have my own way of finding those pages. I will share that method later in a separate thread in detail. J

    Method-2:

Building a list of auto-approved pages for scrapebox blast

Well, I don?t have to explain any thing here. It was shared many times here. You can search for the same. If you are unable to find it, you can check my scrapebox collection thread where I have seven threads captured which explains you this method.

    Code:
    http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackhat-seo/white-hat-seo/261013-scrapebox-tutorial-all-one-place-just-bookmark.html
Well, I thought of sharing this as an e-book in the download section so that you can read it in your spare time, but I don?t want to see some moron selling my e-book in DP or some other forums. I explained this method step-by-step so that noobs can understand the concept well (Advanced SB users, please excuse me :)). I dedicate this to Geoffrey, our member who is no longer with us :-( May your soul rest in peace.

Comments, suggestions, tweaks, corrections, debates, appreciations?..all are welcome. I will try my level best to answer all your queries.

I read somewhere before to just block the links and leave the comments. I assume this would be for a smaller site, but it is suppose to make a site look *busier*
I know this is somewhat unrelated just thought it would be another way to exploit the spam.

For xrumer users, you can use "Links database Analysis" tool and check for the word "nofollow" (option : search in content).

Works well for me whatever the site i am checkin

Very devious and clever way of using Spam that I hadn't thought of. I must start thinking out of the box a little bit more :)

Thanks! You can also add your own tweaks to get more from this method. For example, your blog is not the only place where you get generic comments. You will find many comments like this in many do-follow blog pages. If you start collecting all those comments, then you don't have to worry about backlinks:)

I believe you misunderstood the concept. You don't have to leave any generic comments. You just need to collect all those generic comments and harvest backlinks using the same with the help of SB.

That's a good idea. I'm thinking of building bunch of .info sites with no spam protection to lure spammers. :)

I often use a quite similar approach. First I'm checking the urls from the spammer comments and write down all the high PR domains. Than I'm finding backlinks to this site (using SB or yahoo sitexplorer). Quick PR check on the links and I always find something interesting. :p

    Happy New Year!

I do not agree with this, what's the point of being in a black hat SEO if you are going to give out information like this?
