Pardon this if it's a little wonky. I'm a bit drunk.
Obviously, the title is meant to grab your attention. I can't honestly promise you'll be the Tumblr King within 2 days, but this method I've been using has generated at least 1,000 UVs to my website in the past 24 hours and if you do it right, I'm sure it could be scalable.
NOTE: I have no affiliation with the products below, so I don't make a penny if you decide to buy them or not.
Pay $12 and download this: http://imautobots.com/downloads/tumblr-autobot/ It's a complete Tumblr bot that helps with account creation, scraping, following/liking, reblogging, asking/submitting, plus it supports proxies.
We're going to use this bot to scrape users, get ASK URLs from Tumblr, and then use the submitter in this bot to ask a few thousand blogs whether they've seen/heard of a particular brand name or niche.
NOTE: I'm doing this for music promotion, so you'll have to figure out the best way to make this also work for your niche.
1. I use the included scraper with the bot to scrape the usernames of people on Tumblr who post about a certain keyword. In my case, I pick similar bands and artists who fit the niche of the band I'm promoting. I recommend taking half an hour to brainstorm at least 100 different related keywords to your own and putting them in here. When you hit "Run" it's time to grab a cup of coffee (or 5) and wait a few hours for it to scrape all of these users. Be sure to set it to 50 pages of posts and "fast" speed. There are 10 users per page*50 pages*100 keywords=about 50k users (although probably much less than this to account for duplicates).
2. Then, you import that TXT file into Notepad and do a find and replace all for ".tumblr.com" with ".tumblr.com/ask."
3. Then, once they're all converted, open this list up in the free Scrapebox link checker tool (http://www.scrapebox.com/free-link-checker). Be sure to set it to check the domain and set it to 1 thread. Give this a few hours to check all of the URLs and then export the good ones and leave out the bad.
4. Out of the 50k potential users, you're probably down to 20,000 or so with active /ask links.
5. Head over to your favorite private proxy supplier and get 10 proxies or so. Load these into the Account Manager section of the autobot.
6. Click on the "Ask/Submit" tab of the bot and set it to a delay of 60 (=60 seconds). W0th 10 proxies loaded, you'll be able to submit 100 posts/hour to people. This is because there's a 10 post limit per IP on Tumblr. With the delay set high where it is, you can make exactly the maximum possible posts/hour with your 10 proxies.
7. Load up your ASK URLs and promote away. I use a very common "Have you ever heard of (brand name)"
8. If only 5% of those 20k people bother to look up your website, that's still 1,000 views you did nothing for.
Enjoy!
