[method] Backlinks for noobs

So You are a noob dont have much tools or you do but dont know how to use them and you have a website you want to rank
I am just like you
And came across this: www.dropmylink.com
The idea here is you type in a keyword something relevant to your site
Then you select witch links you need .edu .gov blah blah blah i usually just click the ******** blogs
Then i click search and find blogs i have an addon for google chrome that tells me the PR of the blogs
Eventually i find a blog thats pr 3 or above and i leave a comment i use a real name not some spammy keyword anchor
And i skim through the actual article so that i can post a real relevant comment so that it gets approved.
This i hope will get my and your websites started and going.
This i hope should also be pretty safe backlinks as its not spamming....ish

A handy tool but the links you will get with this will be of inferior quality.
 
This tool had been around since 2010?... and I just find out about it today... :banghead:
 
I chose the ******** option. I was skeptical when I saw how simple the query was but my jaw dropped when I enabled nofollow highlighting! Thank you!
 
Any newbies who liked this technique, might want to look into Scrapebox. It's one of the main functions Scrapebox does: you get to scrape blogs by keyword, filter by PR, check number of outbound links(select blogs with low OBL) and then select a handfew where you can go in and comment manually. Scrapebox can also comment automatically, but if you are careful about finding quality sites, you probably should invest some time into commenting by hand.
 
Blog commenting is not worth the bother anymore! I also used to use Drop My Link but I no longer bother with it. I am referring to it's worth as an SEO tool, however it can be useful to get traffic for money sites. It's also OK for web 2.0s.

I didn't say blog posts, I said blog commenting and it is now not so powerful as it once was. At least that's how Google regard it. Guest posting is better! Using them for web 2.0s works better.
 
So let's say you found a page with a PR 5-6 and created a comment with a back link. Are you saying that Google would not give that link any value backlink because it is in a comment? I would think that it would still work if done selectively and manually.

Hi jeremonster. You are correct, a high PR blog holds authority so yes it would help with your SEO campaign. Blog commenting however is in my experience now one of the least helpful forms of backlinking. Google are fully aware that most blog comments these days are created by the sites owner or at least it has been posted to aide in the SEO campaign of the site in question.
I look at my SEO methods this way; if it's easy then it will carry little authority and indeed be of little or no help to your website.
This is a subject that we could discuss forever as some IMers will agree with me and many won't. I am merely giving my own personal experience. Look at it in the same way as social bookmarking and ask yourself this; How may people actually go to the trouble of adding a link to a blog comment or a social bookmark just for the sake of it? I know that I would not do either if there was no gain for me.
