Good method, this is an oldie and i know it still working. The difficulty when ranking such a site is that one will have to compete with those Google local listings. is it difficult to rank local keywords on Google?

the OP had already stated that competition is hard on these keywords, but digging alittle deeper is always good coz i personally used this method 17 months ago and i added a little twist to it and now i'm ranking 1 on google and the income from it is far more than 500 bucks. yes you are competing against yell and all the big local listing directories but there is ways and means to avoid the competition and yet still get the traffic. my twist is to rank a very low competition keyword with the city name in it example: rats in boston italian restaurant,ect... and once your n1 for the stupid keywords it becomes easy enough to rank for italian restaurants in boston....

I suggest you to test it. No one can really give you a 100% sure answer.

That looks pretty decent to be honest but requires a large amount of time investment i guess.

It all depends on your skills to find easy keywords and to rank them.

If you dont know much about SEO then yes, it would require you a large amount of time investment.

It does work, but it works way better if you are a local guy so you can get in touch face-to-face with your customers
