In this method you get to become a record label, awesome right..

Step 1. Navigate to your favorite classified ad website, craiglist, gumtree, backpage

Step 2. Go to the "musicians" section

Step 3. Make an ad saying "Record Label looking to give musicians FREE promotion and website" be creative with the title

Step 4. State in the AD that you will be giving free promotion, and a brand new website to chosen musicians, and say that you only have 10 more spots left...

Once you start receiving the emails let them know that they have been chosen as the first 10 people, and before you get started with the promotion you will need to build them a website... BUT they will need to supply the hosting.. This is where we come in, send them a shortened affiliate link and tell them that you recommend them Bluehost, (this also works well with Hostgator, since you can give them your first month free affiliate coupon)

Bluehost and hostgator both have awesome affiliate programs, and you can cash in from these hosting companies.. by pretending to be a record label.

Now the next step depends on how ethical you are, you can either ignore further communication once they've signed up, or make them a quick wordpress website with a theme (all of them get the same theme)

I strongly recommend you actually set the website for them, BECAUSE, both hosting programs require for them to be active for 60 days.. and you don't want them cancelling after a month

You can get creative with this method and put your own twists to it.. and again this works and has made me quiet a bit of money ;)

Why lie? Why not approach each musician and tell them you can create them a kick ass easy to manage website to help promote their music for FREE, only they need to pay for hosting and domain name, which you can offer them a massive discount on. Then use your affiliate link for hosting and a domain name...Do a good job on the site, i.e nice WP template. Then you can up sell with SEO, logo design, article creation, PPC advertising, video creation, YT views etc...

You get a MUCH higher response rate if you pretend to be a record label. And of course, i'm glad you made the first post saying that - it's a great suggestion for those who want to go the white way with this method.

It's just an idea to evolve on, (like you just did)

Thank you for your contribution :)

You have it all wrong. You will get a MUCH higher conversion rate if you are honest and have a recognizable portfolio. Who knows? You get the hosting money, and they might even have you manage their website. Scams can end bad, so it is good to stay closest to the sunny side. Always on the sunny side.

I can confirm this works like a charm with MANY different twists you can apply.

No probs, just me 2 cents. I know this method works as antichrist stated, I myself do this but I approach local business, or contact ppl as you said on various classified sites. The best thing is when you contact ppl directly that posted "I need a website, how much?" You are pretty much guaranteed that sale when you say I can do it for FREE!.

I can definitely see this method working, but I'm questioning the legality of it. I'm not sure if this constitutes fraud or not or if it's just unethical. If you plan to do this and you live in the US might just want to brush up on FTC guidelines and what not. I'm not saying it is illegal, I just think it might be.

By being unethical and targeting bands all you are doing is cutting your options down and being unethical. Why not just target anyone for a free website? Put an add on eBay for free websites, you will be able to get through more than enough. No need to start pissing people around to do this method.

Yes it does work, but why don't you just take 1 client and charge him average 400-600$ per fixed project instead of dealing with 5-6 freebie-hunters that will be hard to pay even 100$ each?

done something similar b4 with hostgator. Works well. You need to make yourself a legit website for your business first. Make it look really cool. Also try to gear it for a certain type of music etc.

Anyone know some domain registration affiliate programs to add some extra money to this method?

You could setup your own domain with a resller account. I know GoDaddy offers one or you could go straight commission.
