Right now thread, com's owner

You can’t even accept the cookie policy on threads.net from iOS, at least not on my phone anyway.

I feel like they rushed this out as they thought timing was perfect because of the Twitter rate limiting fiasco?

Still my thoughts remain the same though; meta just brought this out as an almost identical competitor to Twitter but I just don’t think there was a need for this app. What does it do that Twitter isn’t already doing perfectly?
It must be a eu thing I guess (not sure where you are from haha). I am on ios too and I didn’t get any problems like that. :)

Yes it was a bit rushed, but I think Zuckerberg timed it perfectly. Twitter used to work very well before. But with those limits put by Musk, it pissed many people off. There never is a need for something new, but still, new tools come and become the best. Take tools like telegram and slack for examples.
Best part is the sticker they have put.
It is so small that it won't get most visitors attention.

The app claims to be a better alternative to slack.

Now just imagine the amount of traffic that are professionals looking for a twitter alternative.

All these are landing on a random productivity app Website .

Not all but a part of that traffic is bound to benefit them.
Absolutely. The best part was coming up with a related service that wouldn’t piss off meta (atleast not the lawyers team) , but at the same time convert well.

can you pls educate me on why .net is any better than .com, or why .com is any worse than .net?
why .com is better or assumed better
cuz an avg user like the img i posted above take .com over everything
.com is king as the saying goes

in IM, they are all the same.

It's political demographics. Threads is addressing people who find Elon's version of free speech hostile, but who also don't fit in over on Mastodon. Twitter is trending rightward rapidly.

Edit: Which is useful. If people want to self-sort themselves into markets, great :)

I don't know if they rushed it. it doesn't really matter if they don't own the .com. that's irrelevant. people are obvoiusly finding it and the timing was perfect

This is one of the best weekend post I have read on SEJ :p :

Sooner or later Meta will talk to the threads com owner to acquire the domain.... The owner might get millions of $$$$

Threads is googly from Meta... I think it will just disappear in a few months.... Twitter is a stand-alone product that is used by Politicians worldwide.
