For years I was firmly team Ronaldo, his mentality, work ethic, and consistency just got me. But lately I feel like Messi's just been playing better than Ronaldo and it's made me appreciate his game on a whole different level.

Honestly now I just feel lucky we got to watch both of them play in the same era. Instead of arguing over who's better, I'd rather just enjoy the different styles and what each of them brought to the game.

If you had to pick just one today, who you got? And has your opinion changed over the years?

Both are legends and very good, but I would choose Ronaldo. In my opinion, he behaves more respectfully towards his fans and opponents, even though he’s not without sin either

I've been a CR7 fan for so long, since his Man United days and have supported him ever since especially in the context of him and Messi

Gradually over the years, I found myself becoming more of a football fan rather than a die-hard fan of any particular club or player. I gradually started to appreciate the magic of Messi without being so blind as a Ronaldo fan

Like you said OP, it's just a privilege to have witnessed what those two gave us during their prime rivalry years and we will definitely miss it so much once they both stop playing.

I mean, even now that they have stopped playing in major league... but still tournaments like the World Cup brings back the old rivalry in the chat for everyone : D

I have nothing but respect for both of them and just appreciate seeing them gaining so much attention again like the good old times

So, to simply answer the question, "Messi or Ronaldo? Has your answer changed over the years?"

I would be honest, I'm still very much a Ronaldo fan but not at the expense of being blinded by what the great Messi also does. It's simply magical <3

I can relate to that honestly. I think a lot of us started out just defending one side no matter what, but over time you start appreciating greatness regardless of whose shirt they're wearing.

I'm still a Ronaldo fan too, mainly his mentality and drive just gets me, but you can't not admire Messi's talent either. They pushed each other to levels we'll probably never see again tbh.

Football was definitely more fun back in those peak rivalry years.

Haaland's just built different man :D Norway beating Brazil was not on my bingo card at all, but when he's in this kind of form, anything can happen honestly. What a result! :)

I know right. Thats crazy but they did look a little shaky. Now Germany Netherlands and Brazil are all out.

You know I usually don't care about football but when you have your family and friends with you it's a different energy.

That's so true. Football is one of those sports that's way more fun when you're watching with family or friends. Even if you're not a huge fan, the atmosphere, the reactions, the banter, it all makes for a great time.
