Message from a banned user

Hi all,

I have just received a message from a banned user so I contacted them via skype to see what the message was about and they claimed to have not sent it. Dont download the link like I did :(. Is this a scam ? Here is the message I got

Iv read your post here and you seem to know what your doing, and i need people who can give me genuine feedback.

Heres a link to download if your interested? Please use your BHW username for login so i can authorise the bot for you. Also It will only run on one ip at a time for the moment

For helping out I will issue you with a full lifetime license once were out of beta.

This is a virus, i downloaded it like a fool before he was banned. (he seemed pretty reputable and id just answered a programming question in the lounge).

Get AVG and it will find it.

I downloaded it,but didnt run or unrar it yet. Thanks for alerting us,i would have been fucked since I dont have anti virus on the pc i downloaded it on.
 
found this thread because didn't saw the message anymore on my inbox and i was like WTF? also searching the user and not found, then i figure out he must be banned, then found this thread

lol i downloaded it too and i was about to install virtualbox to test it. Ofc i was afraid of viruses so i didnt run it on my computer directly
 
Don't get too comfortable thinking AV is going to detect all threats. In my experience as a PC tech, most AV programs do not stop the newest threats to your PC. Your AV is only as good as your latest update and the bad guys are always 1 step ahead.
 
When it comes to bad downloads I always tend to get myself a lovely big file dropper.

One day I opened my C: Drive to find all 500GB was used and in the red. I sighed, made some tea, and set my PC back to factory settings for the 3rd time this year.

I got the message, downloaded the file and i passed my AV to the rar, the AV couldn't find anything, I decompressed the file, started installation, during installation my AV found 4 different virus (trojans, worms, etc..), the AV aborted installation, i am using nod32
 
I got the PM but i didn't open the link . I genuinely though he is looking for reviews for his new software. He had more then 300 posts on this forum.

Never... ever... Run random programs from the internet... Ugh =/
