I have 10 small sites that will come up for domain renewal soon. These sites do not make any significant money for me to hold on to them. However in combination they will be profitable if as I will be saving approximately $100 a year by not keeping 10 domains.

The sites are all related, so realistically they can all be on the same domain name.

Example
RedWidgetsReview.com
BestBlueWidgets.com
and so on

I am planning to consolidate them under one side name similar to widgetshq.com

I did not build any links to these sites, however they do get some search engine traffic for long tails and I would like google to know the sites are all migrated under one umbrella.

I plan to put a new homepage on the new site

Then have sub directories for each of the old domains.

widgetshq.com (new article)
widgetshq.com/ Blue
widgetshq.com/ Red
and so on

How do I proceed with this without losing on the current traffic they get and also not getting penalized for duplicate content?

If you don't want to lose current traffic, you need to redirect old sites toward a new site. But... you need to keep old domains for next year (of course you pay the costs).

You can move the content from old sites to a new site, there is no duplicate content if you use the redirect.

Is this why you refer to yourself as ?
Is one expected to know everything under the sun? I don't claim to, if you do, then why not answer my question. Please stop thread crapping to raise your post count and promote your services.

Do I redirect to the sub directories?

RedWidgetsReview.com --> widgetshq.com/ Red

BestBlueWidgets.com --> widgetshq.com/ Blue

or all to the root

RedWidgetsReview.com --> widgetshq.com

BestBlueWidgets.com --> widgetshq.com

Well, since you're not going to renew the domains, you can't redirect them. That solves that.

If you want the examples above.... I suggest you to use Wordpress platform for your website.
