I do a lot of testing against trending algorithms on crypto ranking sites. One of my most recent test is for ranking tokens on DEXScreener and DEXTools. After continuous testing, I'm happy to share findings with fellow memecoin developers.
1. Each ranking platform has a trending score they assign, which is verified to compose of Volume, # of unique holders, liquidity size. With these 3 parameters, you can get into HOT trending with DEXTools. However, DEXScreener is harder to rank, suggesting they have other parameters.
2. DEXScreener may weigh social parameters such as Token Page Interaction, updated token socials. Or perhaps they weigh liquidity size much more than DEXTools. I wasn't able to test this out yet.
3. Volume bots are obfuscating their transactions by batching (multicall) and adding transactions paths for complexity. One swap transaction may go through 2-3 different coins.
4. The best coins are using volume bots without obvious patterns like buys per minute, but focus on big buys with small bot buys neutralizing their exposure, simulating natural trading.
5. The trending coin also ensures rising distribution of their coins, either through distribution, airdrops, or just sending them out to the community. This increases # of unique holders, which likely impacts trending score.
Trending is one of the best ways to achieve exposure for crypto projects, so if you launch a memecoin, you better have a sure path to trending. It doesn't have to be a volume bot. It can also be through large KOL calls. But if you can do both, then it would be synergistic.
