    hey all.

Im looking to create a membership site. Ive noticed that wordpress is the main way to create such a site. Does anyone know of anything other than wordpress? Like a hosted site of some kind.

    Thanks

You can use any normal HTML/CSS template and then buy aMember script. If you know HTML/CSS and PHP then you can install everything yourself and start your membership site.

But if you need a CMS, I would recommend either Wordpress or Joomla along with aMember

I am a huge WordPress fan. It's easy to use, even for people who aren't particularly tech savvy, and there is a ton of help available online in the way of tutorials on youtube and ehow pages. But if you are not interested in it then go for joomla. Its second choice for most of the people.

OptimizePress for Wordpress has a built in powerful membership site feature. You won't need to know much HTML/CSS and anything you'll need to know will be very easily learnable.
Friends have used OptimizePress for membership sites and they love it. Its easy to use and powerful too.

You can use Joomla and JomSocial to create a social networking site - there are also themes for these combos as well
