Medium.com worth it to build an online reputation?

Don't do it,
Medium deleted my publication and it's not worth your effort.
You put 1-2 links and their bot will ban you

Depends. Does medium have legitimate authority in your niche?

If you're trying to to build a brand and want to leverage Medium one of the best ways to do it is to publish articles to a WP blog for the traffic and then republish in a Medium publication (or on other peoples') with rel cannonical automatically added.

Drives more traffic to your blog, you get the SEO benefits as well, and you build a following on Medium which can be useful if you can get into the hundreds/thousands of followers.

That's not true, I have 3 publications with hundreds of articles. Maybe there were circumstances that led them to removing your pub but 2 links will not make that happen 99.999999% of the time.

I've only ever had a single article removed, which was surprising but nothing else happened afterwards. One of my other articles is a resource list with 400+ links in a single article - still standing and doing well.

You should avoid building your brand on something you don't have control of (eg. medium but this also applies for youtube, facebook etc.)

Post first on your blog then import your article on medium.com to get the best of both world.
This way you can leverage content distribution and SEO benefit using medium (it has a canonical tag to your blog article) but you're still building your brand on your own blog. (which should be your long-term goal).

They removed my 1 year old publication.
They have become stricter.
I dont know why this happend with me.
I stopped using it.:weep:

How would this work, actually?

Why would someone go from Medium -> to Blog to read exact same article?

Isn't better to approach Medium as a 2.0 (Publish original that ranks fast because of its high DA)?

I'm curious about this too. So should we posting like part of the article on medium and directing readers to read the remaining on the site?

I highly recommend you to avoid that.
Leverage its power with Keywords that otherwise you couldn't rank, by uploading entire Stories -> Re-direct traffic to your site's content.

On any legitimate niche that you can think of.

Always better to have full control of your content, but certainly a good way to piggy-back a niche they perform well and try to spread your name. If you offer enough valuable information, hopefully people then follow you through social media or your own website. The goal is to be everywhere, or as many place as possible, so it can't hurt to try. I wouldn't make it the centerpiece of my strategy, however.

Also, if you're sharing your links elsewhere (reddit, twitter, etc.), a medium link will likely have a better CTR than something from your poop domain no one heard of. It looks a little less like blatant self-promotion.

Medium is great, but why not just start your own site? I'm sure you can leverage Medium, but I wouldn't use it as a money/authority site.

Dont build your brand on someone else's blog or websites. They are controlling traffic and building their brand and most importantly they rank super fast and dominate the first page of Google because everyone is posting on their plattorm.

The better way... write good content on your own site to build an email list and then republish that content on medium and social media sites.

It is going to build you reputation, good ranking and more traffic...there more pure methods out there to get better audience.

It's certainly a good option to help build reputation for your site. If you have long-term plans, it is important to diversify and have your site exposed in good parasites like Medium.
