MEDIUM.COM Question- Weird URL

Hi guys. My first post.
I put up a page on medium.com [had a real job because they would not allow me to publish at first; used an email, not FB or Twitter].

Anyhoo, its finally published.

The URL seems a bit weird though - https://medium.com/@snigoll/best - etc-etc-etc

the "@snigoll" bit looks odd. [It`s part of my email]

Is this normal?

Yes, that is normal to see your email in the Medium URL, unless you make what's called a publication, then you get your publication name, and the title of each publication article as part of the URL.

For example:
If you started a new publication and you named it "Cat Toys" and then you named an article within that publication "Toys For Kittens" the Medium URL structure would look something like this: www.medium.com/cat-toys/toys-for-kittens-ebv12ayz125

The URL is indexed, it contains your primary keyword as well.
In terms of SEO, this is ain't a problem. But such article for nofollow link, is it worth it?

It can be a parasite, not just page for a link.
